Job summary

JourneyPure At The River in Murfreesboro, TN seeks an experienced Director of Nursing to provide clinical leadership for our nursing department within substance use and behavioral health programs.

You will supervise RNs, LPNs, and Medical Technicians; ensure regulatory compliance, patient safety, accurate documentation; coordinate with the Medical Director and external agencies; drive staffing, schedules, and quality improvement.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program.
• Current, unrestricted RN license in TN and/or FL where applicable.
• Psych NP or NP licensure is required/preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years direct clinical nursing experience.
• Current CPR certification.
• Strong leadership, supervisory, and organizational skills.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment within licensure scope.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary nursing liaison to Medical Director and coordinate nursing and medical services.
• Provide leadership, supervision, and direction to nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, Medical Technicians).
• Develop and coordinate nursing department schedules for appropriate staffing.
• Oversee medication administration and accurate records.
• Coordinate referrals and transportation for medical/dental appointments.
• Oversee nursing assessments and participate in treatment planning conferences.
• Oversee infection prevention and control processes.
• Coordinate pharmacy and laboratory services with contracted providers.
• Monitor operations, staff performance, and address concerns.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Director of Nursing to provide clinical leadership and oversight for the nursing department, ensuring the highest standard of nursing and medical care for clients participating in our substance use and behavioral health programs.

The Director of Nursing will oversee nursing personnel, collaborate closely with the Medical Director and other clinical leaders, and ensure the nursing department operates in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, licensing requirements, and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary nursing liaison to the Medical Director and coordinate nursing and medical services.
• Provide leadership, supervision, and direction to nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and Medical Technicians.
• Develop and coordinate nursing department schedules to ensure appropriate staffing and coverage.
• Oversee medication administration and ensure accurate medication records and controlled-substance inventories are maintained in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Coordinate client referrals and transportation for medical and dental appointments.
• Complete, review, and oversee nursing assessments and participate in treatment planning conferences.
• Oversee infection prevention and control processes and serve as the facility's designated infection control resource.
• Coordinate pharmacy and laboratory services with contracted providers.
• Monitor nursing department operations, efficiency, and staff performance and address performance concerns appropriately.
• Respond to client, family, and staff concerns in a timely, professional, and appropriate manner.
• Ensure accurate completion of the midnight census and assist with coordination of special dietary needs.
• Provide educational and clinical groups for clients as appropriate and as time permits.
• Maintain appropriate nursing documentation and ensure records are accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable standards.
• Assist with regulatory, licensing, accreditation, and compliance activities related to nursing services.
• Represent the facility in interactions with external agencies, governmental entities, and third-party payers when requested.
• Perform other duties consistent with the position and operational needs of the facility.

Qualifications

Required

• Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program.
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Tennessee and/or Florida, as applicable to the assigned facility. RN licensure is the minimum nursing licensure requirement for this position.
• Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Psych NP) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) licensure is required/preferred based on the scope of clinical responsibilities assigned to the position.
• Minimum of 2 years of direct clinical nursing experience.
• Current CPR certification.
• Strong knowledge of nursing practices, medication administration, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong leadership, supervisory, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions within the scope of the position and applicable licensure.

Preferred Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher.
• Previous nursing leadership or management experience.
• Experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Psych NP) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) in a behavioral health, psychiatric, or substance use treatment setting.
• Experience in substance use disorder treatment, behavioral health, psychiatric nursing, or dual-diagnosis treatment.
• Knowledge of alcohol and chemical dependency treatment and rehabilitation programs.
• Experience working with accreditation and regulatory requirements applicable to behavioral health or substance use treatment facilities.
