Job summary

Heritage of Clear Lake in Houston is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as Director of Healthcare in our memory care community. This leadership role combines hands-on resident care with team management and strategic oversight.

You will supervise nursing staff, coordinate assessments, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with leadership to support residents and families. An RN or LPN licensed in Texas with memory care experience is required.

Qualifications

• Active RN or LPN license in Texas, RN preferred.
• Minimum 3 years in Memory Care, Assisted Living, or Long-Term Care.
• Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment for routine and emergency decisions.
• Proficiency with EHR/EMR and medication management systems.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver’s license with ability to travel locally.
• Flexible to evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee nursing care operations and ensure resident safety and infection control.
• Administer, prepare, and document medications; maintain MARs/eMARs.
• Supervise on-duty nurses and caregivers as well as the Assistant Director of Healthcare.
• Lead resident assessments, care conferences, and admissions processes.
• Coordinate and support home healthcare and hospice services.
• Monitor and report state-required incidents; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Conduct monthly supervisory visits for Medication Technicians and verify CMA competency.
• Participate in Manager-on-Duty weekend rotation.
• Collaborate with community leadership to support residents and families.
• Submit monthly healthcare reports and contribute to HSS data collection.

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as our Director of Healthcare in a dynamic Memory Care community. This leadership role is ideal for a clinician who thrives at the intersection of hands-on resident care and team management - someone who leads with both clinical excellence and heart.

What You’ll Do

• Oversee all nursing care operations, ensuring resident safety, quality assurance, and infection control standards are consistently met
• Administer, prepare, and document prescribed medications; maintain accurate MARs and eMARS
• Supervise and mentor on-duty nurses, caregivers, and the Assistant Director of Healthcare
• Lead resident assessments, care conferences, and admission processes
• Coordinate and support home healthcare and hospice services
• Monitor and report state-required incidents; ensure full regulatory compliance
• Conduct monthly supervisory visits for Medication Technicians and verify CMA competency
• Participate in Manager-on-Duty (MOD) weekend rotation
• Collaborate with community leadership to support resident and family welfare

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• Active RN or LPN license in the state of employment (RN preferred)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Memory Care, Assisted Living, or Long-Term Care
• Some supervisory or leadership experience strongly desired
• Strong clinical judgment for independent decision-making in routine and emergency situations
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR/EMR) and medication management systems
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Valid driver’s license; ability to travel locally on a monthly basis
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and varied hours as needed
