Job summary

View Behavioral Health (VBH) Child, Colton, seeks a Director of Nursing to provide strategic and operational leadership for all nursing services across the Colton campus, including the Child & Adolescent facility and the adult unit upon opening.

This role oversees nursing operations, compliance, quality assurance, infection prevention, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Requires strong regulatory knowledge and multi-site leadership; ready to guide staff through evolving services at this campus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–7 years of nursing leadership experience in behavioral health.
• Experience in child/adolescent psychiatry required.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and accreditation standards.
• Proven ability to lead multi-site or expanding operations.
• Proficiency in computers and electronic documentation.
• Effective verbal and written communication in English.
• CPR, BLS, and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).

Responsibilities

• Oversee all nursing operations across both facilities.
• Ensure compliance with licensing requirements, infection control standards, and patient safety protocols.
• Lead quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
• Partner with Medical Director on clinical initiatives and regulatory readiness.
• Oversee medication management processes and nursing documentation standards.
• Develop staffing models, schedules, and workforce plans aligned with census growth.
• Mentor nursing leadership including House Supervisors and Charge Nurses.
• Lead survey readiness for DHCS and Joint Commission.
• Identify and resolve system issues within the EHR impacting workflows.
• Lead policy development and implementation for nursing services.

Our Child & Adolescent program offers a safe, structured environment focused on stabilization, evidence-based treatment, and family-centered care. As we expand, the campus will include adult services, supporting a full continuum of care for the communities we serve.

Position Summary

Qualifications

• Demonstrated sound professional judgment; clinical judgment where applicable to licensure/role.
• Proficiency in the use of computers and standard keyboard functions for data entry and electronic documentation.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
• Current CPR, BLS, and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within90 days of employment
• Demonstrate understanding and compliance with Patients' Rights, LPS Statutes, and Seclusion and Restraint Protocols.

• Compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), The Joint Commission, and HIPAA standards
• Compliance with all required health screenings and immunizations in accordance with regulatory guidelines and facility policy, which may include tuberculosis (TB) testing, N95 fit testing, annual trainings, and proof of vaccination for certain communicable diseases
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or variable shifts as needed, based on operational or patient care needs
