Director of Next Generational Youth Ministries

Job Title: Director of Next Generational Youth Ministries - First UMC, Gallatin, TN

The First UMC, Gallatin, TN is seeking a Director of NextGen Youth Ministries. The role involves making Christ-like disciples of our youth, training, and mobilizing them to do the same. This person will help young people experience God's radical grace and transforming power, encouraging courageous steps of faith, modeling authenticity, and displaying excellence as they love God and others.

We are seeking someone who can…

  • Understand, communicate, and implement a strategic vision to glorify God for the youth ministry (middle school, high school, and college-age students).
  • Identify, recruit, and equip ministry volunteer leaders who love Jesus and love others.
  • Build relationships with students in the community to lead them to Christ and model a Christ-filled lifestyle for students and leaders.
  • Evaluate ministry resources, manage storage and purchasing, and operate within budget constraints.
  • Schedule and plan Next Generation Ministry events in collaboration with the Director of NextGen Children’s Ministries.
  • Assist in pastoral ministries, serve on ministry committees, and lead worship when needed.

We must have someone who…

  • Is passionate about engaging students in large and small group settings.
  • Can plan and implement age-appropriate mission trips, retreats, and fellowship events that build relationships and community.
  • Works well independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Is familiar with and can communicate through modern technology (social media, text messaging, email).
  • Has a strong Christian faith and a genuine love for middle school, high school, and college-age students.
  • Will adhere to Safe Sanctuary Policies and ensure background checks for volunteers and staff working with youth.
  • Holds an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution, with relevant training and at least one year of Christian education experience.
  • Has a friendly, outgoing personality and high energy for a growing ministry.
  • Can assist with transportation for youth events when necessary.
  • Is flexible and willing to accept additional responsibilities as needed.

Responsible to: Senior Pastor, with accountability to the Staff-Parish Relations Committee.
