Shield AI seeks a Director of Mission Effectiveness to lead a multidisciplinary team delivering next-generation autonomous aircraft capabilities. This role shapes technical strategy, aligns investments with program goals, and oversees execution from concept to fielding.

The ideal leader has 10+ years in aerospace/defense, senior-level communication skills, and a track record of building high-performing teams across mission systems, survivability, and autonomy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in complex military aircraft, autonomous systems, or aerospace/defense programs.
• Experience leading a multidisciplinary engineering organization with people managers and senior leaders.
• Broad knowledge across mission systems, operational analysis, modeling & simulation, survivability, avionics, sensors, payloads or weapons integration.
• Experience establishing organizational and technical strategies while managing risk, cost, schedule, and maturity.
• Ability to balance mission performance with engineering requirements and business priorities.
• Lifecycle experience from requirements/architecture through integration, test, fielding, and sustainment.
• Executive communication with customers, operators, and government stakeholders; U.S. citizenship with active Secret clearance and TS eligibility.

Responsabilités

• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary organization spanning mission systems, survivability, and communications.
• Define technical strategy, roadmaps, and investments aligned with program objectives.
• Oversee system architectures for sensors, avionics, payloads, and secure comms.
• Direct modeling, simulation, wargaming, and system-of-systems analyses for mission effectiveness.
• Balance trade studies across capability, risk, cost, and schedule.
• Ensure execution from requirements to fielding with rigorous testing and certification.
• Partner with engineering, product, program management, and leadership to deliver capabilities.
• Engage DoD customers and stakeholders to shape requirements and communicate value.
• Recruit and develop leaders to build organizational depth.
• Ensure compliance with safety, airworthiness, cybersecurity, and security requirements.
