Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership for maintenance operations at the company’s primary maintenance facility.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians while fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, urgency, and continuous improvement.
  • Maximize fleet uptime through proactive preventive maintenance planning and execution.
  • Manage parts inventory, purchasing, pricing, and inventory accuracy.
  • Control maintenance expenditures through effective budgeting, vendor management, and cost analysis.
  • Establish and monitor key maintenance performance indicators, identifying opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Oversee relationships with external repair vendors and breakdown service providers.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and company maintenance standards.
  • Partner with operations leadership to improve equipment utilization, fleet availability, and overall service performance.
  • Utilize fleet maintenance technology to support maintenance planning, reporting, and inventory management.

Director of Maintenance

Location: Pittsburgh, PA (On-site)


Overview

A well-established, privately held transportation and logistics company is seeking a Director of Maintenance to lead maintenance operations at its flagship maintenance facility in the Pittsburgh market.


The successful candidate will combine strong maintenance expertise with business acumen, leading a high-performing shop while driving equipment reliability, inventory control, vendor management, cost performance, and operational excellence.


This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and offers significant visibility and the opportunity to make a measurable impact on the business.


Key Responsibilities


  • Provide overall leadership for maintenance operations at the company’s primary maintenance facility.

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians while fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, urgency, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications – Preferred


  • Experience supporting flatbed, specialized transportation, dry van, or intermodal operations.

  • Experience utilizing computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

  • Maintenance certifications are a plus.
