Job Description

SPORTIME owns and operates 15 tennis, pickleball, sports, camp, and fitness clubs across NYS, including Long Island, Westchester, Manhattan, and the Capital Region. Several locations feature dedicated and/or blended pickleball courts, offering court-time, instruction, and related programs. SPORTIME is actively creating and scaling its new pickleball division to own or lease and operate dedicated indoor and outdoor pickleball sites in current and nearby markets.

SUMMARY

The Director of Maintenance supervises and directs maintenance and housekeeping staff across various sites. This hands-on managerial role requires experience in maintenance and construction, working within budget guidelines, developing vendor relationships, and hiring, training staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain attendance as an essential job function.
  2. Communicate daily with the GM and Maintenance/Engineering team.
  3. Ensure pickleball courts are maintained to the highest standards at all clubs.
  4. Physically work housekeeping shifts as needed.
  5. Coach and train housekeeping teams on procedures and equipment.
  6. Supervise maintenance staff activities across all clubs.
  7. Determine work schedules, priorities, and assignments based on equipment and personnel skills.
  8. Ensure all shifts are staffed appropriately.
  9. Interview, hire, coach, and counsel maintenance and housekeeping staff.
  10. Ensure equipment is operational, clean, and safe.
  11. Monitor employee performance and provide feedback.
  12. Maintain a safe, clean, and secure work environment.
  13. Understand and manage the maintenance budget.
  14. Report incidents of non-compliance, poor performance, or personnel issues to the appropriate departments.
  15. Negotiate with vendors and implement new services.
  16. Adhere to SPORTIME policies and safety standards, including proper use of protective gear and hazard identification.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Basic knowledge of carpentry, painting, plumbing, construction, and mechanical issues.
  • Management skills including motivating, developing, and directing staff.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Critical thinking and customer service principles.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks such as bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and standing for long periods.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative work relationships.

WORK CONTEXT/ACTIVITIES

  • Perform physical activities involving lifting, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
  • Maintain a pleasant, cooperative attitude with others.
  • Work indoors and outdoors, including outdoor tasks like shoveling, raking, and trash pickup.

COMPENSATION: $75,000 - $80,000 per year

SCHEDULE: Full-time
