Job summary

PSA Airlines, a subsidiary of American Airlines, seeks a Director of Line Maintenance to lead and oversee Line Maintenance across PSA bases, ensuring safety, reliability, and FAR compliance. You will translate strategy into standardized execution and manage base leaders to deliver on-time performance.

You will drive cost control, maintain manuals, and supervise maintenance programs, with responsibility for data accuracy, vendor coordination, and strategic staff development.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification.
  • Working knowledge of FAR.
  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance of transport category aircraft.
  • Experience with management and administration of service contracts and agreements.
  • Ability to speak/read/write in English.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Owns and directs Line Maintenance to ensure aircraft, ground equipment and facilities are maintained in accordance with airworthiness standards, operating schedules, appearance standards, safety, and cost objectives.
  • Demonstrates a safe and compliant work environment by complying with Safety Policy and Procedures Manual and General Maintenance Manual policies and procedures as well as ensuring compliance of subordinates.
  • Identifies, develops, and submits Line Maintenance-related manual revisions as required for any identified ineffective processes and/or procedures for review and approval by the Managing Director of Maintenance.
  • Ensure maintenance programs are followed during inspection and repair of aircraft.
  • Ensures local technical manuals and reference material is in current status.
  • Directs the maintenance, repair, overhaul and modification of aircraft, components, and related equipment.
  • Manages Line Maintenance operating expenses within approved budget parameters.
  • Complies with applicable company policies, procedures and Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Ensures data entry and tracking of time life and scheduled maintenance items on the Company managed aircraft at the assigned location.
  • Monitor Cancellation and Delay Reports, Deferred Maintenance Items, and Maintenance Carryovers to ensure expeditious corrective actions.
  • Maintain contact with vendors to ensure adequate technical assistance is provided.
  • Maintain communication with vendors and manufacturer technical support personnel to minimize reliability delays and cancellations.
  • In regards to the performing of maintenance, preventive maintenance, alterations, or other functions affecting aircraft airworthiness, the Director of Line Maintenance or his designee will serve as the final operational decision authority for Line Maintenance activities, escalations, and prioritization within approved policies, manuals, and delegated authority, escalating regulatory, policy or enterprise-level risks to the Managing Director of Maintenance.
  • Ensure that all instructions pertinent to safety are properly observed and that all personnel at the station fully understand and comply with existing safety regulations.
  • Maintain maintenance records to FAA regulations on all aircraft at the assigned location.
  • Owns line maintenance performance outcomes, and reviews against established procedures and standards.
  • Owns the design, standardization, and continuous improvement of Line Maintenance operations across all assigned stations, including initiating and leading projects to improve equipment performance, maintenance effectiveness, and overall operational reliability.
  • Make recommendations covering station personnel staffing level requirements.
  • Leads, develops, and holds accountable Line Maintenance Managers, ensuring consistent leadership standards, decision making, and operational execution.
  • Perform inspections of shops and facility to ensure compliance with company policy.
  • Comply with applicable company policies, procedures and FARs.
  • Responsible for the Company's Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs for Line Maintenance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
Position Summary

The Director of Line Maintenance provides leadership and operational oversight for Line Maintenance across all PSA maintenance bases, ensuring consistent execution, safety, reliability, and compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) to get our customers to their destinations safely and on time. Position Specifics
Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification.

Additional Information

Supervisory Responsibility: This is a supervisory position.

Delegation: In absence, responsibilities delegated to Managing Director of Maintenance.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, facsimile machines and filing cabinets.
