Marvin Group seeks a Director of Integrated Mechanical Systems to lead mechanical, structural, shelter, and mechanical-integration engineering across concept to field deployment. Owns the complete mechanical realization of deployable shelters and integrated infrastructure systems from concept through production release and field use.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; candidates with a Bachelor's with significant experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of managerial experience leading mechanical, structural, shelter, or closely related engineering work through design, manufacturing, qualification, and deployment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic objectives and budgets to support the functional infrastructure.
  • Deep knowledge of structural analysis, FEA, thermal management, HVAC integration, and transport design considerations.

Position Summary:

Marvin Group is seeking a Director of Integrated Mechanical Systems to establish and lead mechanical engineering, structural engineering, shelter engineering, mechanical manufacturing engineering, and mechanical integration.

The role owns the complete mechanical realization of deployable shelters and integrated infrastructure systems from concept and system architecture through detailed design, manufacturing support, qualification, production release, and field deployment. Design and manufacturing engineering remain integrated under one accountable discipline leader.

  • Establish and lead mechanical, structural, shelter, and mechanical-integration engineering activity.
  • Own structural design, finite element analysis, thermal management, HVAC integration, environmental sealing, EMI shielding integration, equipment packaging, lifting and tie-down systems, and transportation analysis.
  • Drive maintainability, manufacturability, producibility, and lifecycle support throughout product development.
  • Lead mechanical work across concept development, system architecture, detailed design, prototype development, manufacturing support, qualification testing, production release, and field deployment.
  • Develop engineering standards, design methodologies, manufacturing documentation, qualification plans, and technical data packages that support repeatable production.
  • Establish design practices supporting the International Building Code, ASCE 7 structural and seismic requirements, military environmental qualification requirements, and customer-specific defense and utility standards.
  • Own mechanical manufacturing engineering for welding and system assembly, including routings, work instructions, fixture design, and weld procedures.
  • Lead mechanical and system-assembly floor execution for the discipline.
  • Integrate mechanical architecture with electrical, communications, cooling, and mission equipment while protecting structural integrity, reliability, maintainability, and producibility.
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related disciplie; candidates with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and significant relevant expeirence will be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated managerial experience leading mechanical, structural, shelter, or closely related engineering work through design, manufacturing, qualification, and deployment.
  • Demonstrated experience creating functional strategies, specific objectives, and developing budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.
  • Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
  • Experience with structural analysis, finite element analysis, thermal management, HVAC integration, environmental sealing, equipment packaging, and transportation-related design considerations.
  • Experience integrating mechanical design with manufacturing engineering, particularly welding and system assembly.
  • Ability to develop engineering standards, manufacturing documentation, qualification plans, and technical data packages.
  • Working knowledge of maintainability, manufacturability, producibility, and lifecycle engineering.
  • Ability to lead cross-discipline integration with electrical, communications, cooling, and mission-equipment stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with utility-grade E-Houses, transportable electrical control rooms, modular equipment shelters, ISO container systems, environmental control systems, or similar mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Experience applying the International Building Code, ASCE 7, military environmental qualification requirements, or customer-specific defense and utility standards.
  • Experience with arc-resistant switchgear buildings, medium-voltage equipment enclosures, or mechanical infrastructure supporting mission-critical electrical equipment.
