Job summary

Shalom Hartman Institute (SHI NA) seeks an experienced foundation relations professional to lead stewardship of North American institutional funding relationships and manage the full grants portfolio.

The role also builds new philanthropic partnerships for priority initiatives and programs, requiring strong grant writing and editing skills and a deep familiarity with the North American Jewish foundation sector.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in fundraising and philanthropy, focusing on foundation relations and major funder cultivation.
  • Strong grant writing and editing skills with proven success in proposals and reporting.
  • Deep familiarity with the North American Jewish philanthropic landscape and related funding ecosystems.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with foundation professionals throughout the grant process.
  • Oversee grant writing and reporting to meet deadlines and funder requirements.
  • Pursue and secure major grants for priority initiatives from Jewish foundations, family foundations, and federations.
  • Lead writing and editing for LOIs, proposals, and reports tailored to funder interests.
  • Collaborate with finance to ensure budgets and narratives are accurate.
  • Develop funder cultivation and reporting presentations for prospects and partners.
  • Coordinate educational initiatives to engage funders with SHI's ideas and activities.
