Job summary

Golden Nugget seeks a Director of Finance to identify, analyze, and communicate financial information for casino operations, enabling management to plan, evaluate, and control performance. The role includes preparing reports for auditors, regulators, and tax authorities while upholding the brand values of K.E.E.P.

The position oversees Casino Accounting, Inventory Control, and related revenue processes, and works with Gaming Control Board staff and IRS.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or related field preferred.
  • 5 years’ experience in finance/accounting roles.
  • Knowledge of Gaming Control Board Minimum Internal Control Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Casino Accounting in daily audit and Daily Operating Report preparation.
  • Supervise Inventory Control, Warehouse Inventory and Oracle receiving processes.
  • Respond to inquiries from Gaming Control Board and IRS; coordinate with auditors.

Overview

The Director of Finance will identify, accumulate, analyze, prepare, interpret and communicate financial information within the Casino realm used by management to plan, evaluated and control within the Golden Nugget. Prepare reports for non-management groups such as auditors, regulatory agencies and tax authorities. This position must also exhibit a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company’s brand standard and core values (K.E.E.P. – Kindness, Engagement, Empathy and Positivity).

Responsibilities
  • Indirectly supervises Casino Accounting in the performance of daily audit work and compilation of numbers for the Daily Operating Report. Review the Daily Operating Report.
  • Indirectly supervises Inventory Control, Warehouse Inventory and Food & Beverage Oracle receiving processes.
  • Indirectly supervises the Hard/Soft Count Team in the performance of the Hard/Soft Count drop.
  • Indirectly supervise the Main Street Warehouse in the performance of ordering, receiving and storing product and records.
  • Responds to questions and demands of the Gaming Control Board and regulatory agencies.
  • Responds to questions and demands of the Internal Revenue Service.
  • Responds to questions and findings of Internal/External Auditors.
  • Review backup and sign checks.
  • Work on special projects as deemed necessary by the Vice President of Finance.
  • Perform other reasonable duties and responsibilities as requested.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ability to manage employees, training and coaching skills with evidence of developing exceptionally motivated teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, administrative, multi-tasking, organization and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), fluent English and articulate.
  • Controller, Cage Manager, Count Room Manager, Inventory Control Manager, Compliance Director.

  • Knowledge of Hard/Soft Count procedures and accounting for revenues.
  • Knowledge of cage transactions and procedures.
  • Knowledge of casino department’s revenue transactions and procedures.
  • Must be able to obtain a Nevada Gaming Registration.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s or related degree preferred

Must be able to speak and understand English.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to move throughout the hotel (standing, walking, kneeling, and bending) for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and perceive sound by ear.
  • Ability to regularly move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, carry) up to 50 pounds.
  • Constantly walking up to distances of 500 ft. during shift.
  • Frequently stooping, reaching.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Work performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment. There are occasional hot and cold temperature changes.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a smoke-filled environment.
  • Work with others in close spaces.
  • Moderate to high noise levels.
  • Walk/stand on tile/mats/carpet/cement.
