Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with significant time spent in manufacturing.
  • Senior leadership experience (e.g., Plant Controller).
  • Experience with ERP system implementation and optimization.
  • Budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and strategic planning.
  • Cost accounting and inventory management knowledge.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present complex financial information to management.
  • Advanced Excel and ERP/BI tools experience (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics; Tableau).
  • Travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Financial planning: Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning; partner with management leadership.
  • Financial reporting: Oversee GAAP-compliant statements and KPI dashboards.
  • Cost accounting and inventory: Manage standard costing, variance analysis, and allocations across sites; oversee inventory accounting.
  • Operational finance partnership: Align budgets with operations and drive efficiency.
  • ERP systems: Lead ERP enhancements and automation in finance processes.
  • Risk management and compliance: Implement controls and ensure regulatory compliance; coordinate with auditors.
  • Capital expenditures and M&A analysis: Evaluate and provide financial insights.
  • Team leadership: Mentor regional finance and accounting teams.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to oversee financial operations for our manufacturing business. The successful candidate will guide financial strategy, ensure fiscal discipline, and provide crucial financial insights to drive profitability and sustainable growth.

Job Location
  • This position is hybrid and this person needs to live close to one of our manufacturing plants in the Northeast. Preferred locations are Easton, PA, Rehoboth, MA and Richmond, VA.
Job Responsibilities
  • Financial planning: Provide support for annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes. Serve as a strategic partner to the management leadership team.
  • Financial reporting and analysis: Oversee the preparation of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP accounting standards. Provide insightful analysis of financial and operational performance through KPIs and dashboards.
  • Cost accounting and inventory: Manage all cost accounting functions, including standard costing, variance analysis, and cost allocations across multiple manufacturing sites. Oversee inventory accounting processes, valuation, and reconciliation.
  • Operational finance partnership: Work closely with operations, supply chain, and other department heads to align budgets with operational execution and drive efficiency.
  • ERP systems and process improvement: Serve as the Regional finance lead for ERP system enhancements and optimization, especially for manufacturing and finance modules. Champion automation to improve finance processes.
  • Risk management and compliance: Implement and manage internal controls, financial policies, and procedures. Ensure compliance with all financial laws and regulations and manage relationships with internal and external auditors.Capital expenditures and investment: Evaluate and provide financial analysis for capital expenditures, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and other strategic business investments.
  • Team leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the Regional finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Job Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required
  • A professional accounting designation, such as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant), is strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with significant time spent in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience in senior leadership or management role, such as a Plant Controller
  • Demonstrated experience with ERP system implementation and optimization
  • Deep knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and strategic planning
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing finance principles
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and mentoring skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex financial information to management stakeholders
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Dynamics) and BI tools (e.g., Tableau)
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
Compensation
  • Base Salary $150,000-$170,000
