Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing Services in the United States is seeking a Senior Controller/Director of Finance to lead accounting, treasury, and financial planning functions, shaping the company’s long-term strategy.

You will oversee a 5-person accounting team, build banking relationships, and drive budgeting, forecasting, and M&A evaluation in collaboration with the President & CEO.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management required.
• 10+ years of accounting experience in a mid-to-large organization.
• 5+ years leading accounting teams and delivering financial leadership.

Are you a strong accounting and controllership leader with a great strategic understanding ready to make a lasting impact?

We are seeking an experienced Senior Controller/ Director of Finance to join our leadership team and play a pivotal role in driving financial performance, operational excellence, and long-term growth initiatives.

Reports to: President & CEO

The Opportunity

As the Director of Finance, you will serve as a trusted advisor to the President & CEO, overseeing the organization's accounting, banking, treasury, insurance, and financial planning functions. This highly visible leadership role offers the opportunity to influence company strategy, support growth initiatives, and help evaluate future acquisition opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish accounting procedures and controls
• Prepares monthly internal financial statements
• Coordinates annual audit and tax distributions
• Maintain banking relationships
• Secures funding for store remodels and acquisitions
• Monitors cash balances and forecasts
• Maintains appropriate P&C insurance coverage; evaluates carrier and makes broker assessments
• Works with HR on workers compensation, insurer evaluation, and broker assessment
• Coordinates 401K program and evaluates provider; serves as plan administrator and on investment committee; coordinates 401K Audit and 5500 filing; acts as named fiduciary
• Works with HR with teammate benefit plan evaluation and broker assessment
• Works with President to determine strategy and decisions regarding company initiatives
• Works with President to evaluate growth and acquisition opportunities
• Manage an Accounting team of 5
• Other related and reasonable duties as necessary

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management
• 10+ years of accounting experience within a mid-to-large-sized organization
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing accounting teams
• Proven success building and maintaining banking and lending relationships
• Experience managing corporate insurance programs and risk management initiatives
• Strong expertise in financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
• Technology-savvy professional comfortable leading systems and process improvements
• Grocery, retail, supermarket, food, multi-location, and perishable costing experience is a strong plus.
