Job description

Director of Finance

Strategic Finance, Accounting, Cash Management & Business Operations for building the finance organization for Scaling.com’s path from $15M to $120M

Location: Utah-based; regular in-person collaboration with the CEO and leadership team

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

The Opportunity

Scaling.com is growing from approximately $15 million toward a $120 million annual revenue organization. We’re looking for a hands-on Director of Finance to build the financial structure, insight, and discipline that will help us scale with confidence.

This is a high-impact role for a finance leader who enjoys both strategy and execution. You’ll partner directly with the CEO and company partners, turn financial information into clear decisions, and personally own the work that keeps the business accurate, prepared, and moving forward.

What You’ll Own
  • Lead budgeting, rolling forecasts, scenario planning, and a reliable 13-week cash forecast.
  • Deliver weekly scorecards and monthly budget-versus-actual reporting with practical recommendations.
  • Own the close, reporting, reconciliations, controls, and coordination of payables, receivables, payroll accounting, tax, and compliance.
  • Drive completion of the current financial statement audit and build repeatable audit-ready processes.
  • Maintain visibility into cash, collections, major payments, debt, working capital, and liquidity needs.
  • Manage banking and lender relationships and evaluate financing options before needs become urgent.
  • Improve finance systems, automation, documentation, approvals, and reporting so the function scales efficiently.
  • Manage external finance partners while remaining personally accountable for outcomes.
  • Partner with the CEO on hiring, pricing, compensation, customer acquisition, distributions, debt, and capital allocation.
  • Help shape and eventually develop the finance team as business complexity justifies additional support.
What Success Looks Like
  • Leadership has timely, accurate reporting and clear visibility into cash, performance, risks, and priorities.
  • Close, forecasting, and budget-versus-actual rhythms are dependable and useful.
  • The current audit is completed, with organized, audit-ready records and controls.
  • Finance processes are documented, scalable, and less dependent on manual work or any one individual.
  • Risks and opportunities are surfaced early, with clear options and a recommended path.
What You Bring
  • Eight or more years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including ownership of a finance or accounting function.
  • Experience in a broad, hands-on finance leadership role such as Director of Finance, Head of Finance, Senior Finance Manager, or Controller.
  • Success supporting a founder-led, privately held, high-growth, or entrepreneurial company.
  • Strong command of budgeting, forecasting, cash management, close, reporting, controls, and audit support.
  • Experience personally building models, reconciliations, management reports, and audit schedules—not only reviewing others’ work.
  • Practical banking, lending, credit-facility, or business-financing experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. accounting principles, treasury, internal controls, and multi-entity organizations.
  • CPA preferred but not required; equivalent technical strength and operating experience are welcome.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, urgency, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.
  • Based in Utah or willing to relocate and work closely with leadership in person.
The Leader Who Will Thrive Here

You are a finance builder and operator: strategic enough to shape important decisions and hands-on enough to move the work forward yourself. You bring low ego, high ownership, strong technical judgment, and a bias toward action.

You communicate difficult information early, bring structure to ambiguity, and remain accountable until the work is complete.

Why Scaling.com

You’ll work directly with the CEO and partners and have meaningful influence over how the finance function is built.

This is an opportunity to create durable systems, strengthen decision-making, and help shape the financial foundation of a company pursuing significant growth.

Compensation

Target base salary: $180,000 - $220,000, plus a 20%–30% target annual incentive and meaningful long-term value-creation upside. The final package will reflect the candidate’s experience and the scope of the role.

Scaling.com is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
