Overview

Fall 2026 position for a Finance Director at Pacific Christian Academy.

Job Summary

The Finance Director partners with the Head of School in carrying out the business operations of the school in accordance with the school’s Statement of Faith, mission, applicable federal and state laws, GAAP, and School Board policy. He/She supervises the finance department, prepares and executes the annual budget, participates in the training of finance department personnel, and oversees monthly financial reports and other internal management reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead the finance staff to analyze financial issues and develop solutions to improve daily operations.
  • Manage, supervise and/or perform tasks in Tuition Management, Cash Management, Investments, Federal and State Tax documents, and Auditing.
  • Establish and maintain accounting systems to provide accurate financial facts for policy decisions.
  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of monthly and annual financial reports and other reports required by the Head of School (HOS).
  • Oversee all banking functions in the school.
  • Provide and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and oversee statistical and financial reports; ensure report formats meet state, local, and school requirements.
  • Supervise tuition collections, including delinquent accounts, and prepare related reports.
  • Be responsible for budget preparation, including enrollment forecasts and project priorities; monitor line items and report variances; maintain and document general ledger accounts.
  • Provide leadership in determining the annual tuition increase.
  • Ensure timely review of documents and preparation of the annual financial report.
  • Invest school funds (with HOS approval) to ensure cash flow and aligned risk/return.
  • Oversee strategic financial projects and leadership for those projects.
  • Oversee purchasing and work with the School Board Treasurer on fund management reporting.
  • Manage year-end close and related financial reports.
  • Stay informed on school finance reform and related issues.
  • Attend finance and other job-related meetings as assigned by the HOS.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the HOS to ensure efficient operation of the Finance Office.

Required Professional Qualities/Functions
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting or related field; minimum five years’ experience in accounting, payroll, reporting, budget preparation and analysis, and related duties.
  • Language Experience: Ability to read and interpret business materials; ability to write reports and correspondence; ability to present information to stakeholders; strong written and oral communication.
  • Mathematical Skills: Proficiency with spreadsheets and data analysis; ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Reasoning Ability: Capacity to solve practical problems and interpret varied instructions.
  • Other Skills: Proficiency with computer applications; ability to supervise team members; strong human relations, communication, and organizational skills; ability to maintain effective relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
  • Listen carefully and respond with grace and understanding to all members of the school community.
  • Manage time, prioritize tasks, and handle daily requirements.
  • Maintain the physical, emotional, and mental aspects of the job; ability to move as needed; lift up to 35 pounds; communicate effectively.
Work Hours and Compensation

The Finance Director is a full-time, year-round position. On-campus schedule is Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., following the academic calendar. Salary ranges from $60,000–$80,000 based on qualifications and experience. Full-time benefits include PCA tuition discount for eligible dependents, life insurance, and medical/dental coverage. This may also be a part-time position.
