Job summary

Thompson Dallas, part of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, seeks a Director of Event Services to lead daily operations of the Event Services department, ensuring seamless meetings, conferences, weddings, and events with exemplary guest experiences.

You will collaborate with Event Planning, Culinary, Stewarding, Restaurants and Bars, Engineering, and Housekeeping to optimize service standards, labor, and financial performance while developing staff and delivering memorable guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Previous leadership experience in hotel event services, banquet operations, or a related function within a full-service hotel.
• Experience in a luxury, boutique, or lifestyle hotel preferred.
• Previous experience as a Banquet Director, Director of Event Services, or similar leadership role preferred.
• Strong understanding of banquet service, event setup, beverage operations, and event execution.

• Lead the setup, service, breakdown, and follow-up for all meetings and events.
• Review Banquet Event Orders to ensure accurate communication and execution of event details.
• Coordinate timelines, menus, beverage service, décor, equipment, and staffing with Event Planning and hotel departments.
• Conduct regular walkthroughs of event spaces, storage areas, and operational areas to ensure readiness, cleanliness, and compliance with Thompson Dallas and Hyatt standards.
• Support exceptional guest and meeting planner satisfaction scores.
• Develop creative ideas for event décor, special events, holiday functions, and other memorable guest experiences.

Summary

Thompson Dallas is a luxury hotel located within The National, Dallas' newest urban luxury mixed-use project.

Located in downtown Dallas, the hotel offers personalized hospitality with an edge and experiences centered around culinary, nightlife, art, entertainment, and culture.

The hotel features 219 rooms, including 52 suites; distinctive restaurants and bars; a boutique spa and fitness experience; and a variety of event venues, including the 14,000-square-foot National Ballroom. Guests and locals can also enjoy the two-acre, ninth-floor pool deck and its stunning skyline views.

Position Overview

The Director of Event Services leads the daily operations of the Event Services department and oversees the successful execution of meetings, celebrations, conferences, weddings, and other events. This role works closely with Event Planning, Culinary, Stewarding, Restaurants and Bars, Engineering, Housekeeping, and other hotel departments to deliver seamless events and exceptional guest experiences.

The role includes leadership responsibility for event setup and banquet beverage operations, as well as colleague development, service standards, operational efficiency, and financial performance.

Responsibilities

Guest Experience and Event Execution

• Lead the setup, service, breakdown, and follow-up for all meetings and events.
• Review Banquet Event Orders to ensure accurate communication and execution of event details.
• Coordinate timelines, menus, beverage service, décor, equipment, and staffing with Event Planning and hotel departments.

Colleague Leadership

• Lead, coach, motivate, and develop captains, servers, bartenders, housepersons, and other Event Services colleagues.
• Establish clear expectations for service, communication, teamwork, professionalism, and accountability.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, training, scheduling, recognition, and performance management.
• Promote a positive, supportive, and collaborative work environment.

Operational and Financial Performance

• Review staffing, scheduling, equipment, linen, beverage, and other resource needs based on event volume and business levels.
• Coordinate event execution with Culinary, Stewarding, Event Planning, Restaurants and Bars, Engineering, and other departments.
• Promote compliance with hotel policies, Hyatt standards, health regulations, safety procedures, and security expectations.
• Support payroll, forecasts, reports, inventories, budgets, point-of-sale procedures, billing, and reconciliation.
• Monitor labor, beverage, equipment, and other resources to support productivity and profitability.
• Identify opportunities to improve communication, service delivery, procedures, and operational efficiency.
