KSHB is seeking a Director of Engineering who will shape the future of our broadcast and digital operations while building and mentoring a world-class technical team. This is your opportunity to drive innovation, solve complex challenges, and ensure our technology empowers storytelling that serves our community.## ## WHAT YOU'LL DO:* Model and lead a culture of empathy, customer service, and leadership* Lead the research, design, installation, and repair of all television, digital, OTT, Internet Systems, high-power RF systems, production environments, and all associated equipment using current platforms and protocols* Manage building facilities and grounds, including HVAC, power generation, and security systems* Partner with the news department to develop, build, and support content workflow and support systems, including integration and problem-solving software, hardware, networking, and infrastructure, while facilitating a collaborative environment between the newsroom and production control staff* Motivate and manage a staff of professional and technical engineers, operators, and IT technicians* Develop and grow staff in technology and Scripps culture to meet the ongoing and future technological needs of the station, and evaluate staff growth opportunities and assessments* Establish and implement engineering policies and procedures* Evaluate and maintain the spectrum and broadband usage of the facility* Manage projects* Plan, design, and document current and future broadcast and digital systems* Collaborate with other departments to determine current and future studio, transmission, and workflow needs* Prepare and track capital, expense, repair, and maintenance budgets* Use the company purchasing management system to purchase and track assets and services, as well as replacement cycles* Evaluate equipment solutions* Keep the station compliant with the FCC Rules and Regulations, as well as related local, state, and federal regulations* Perform other duties as assigned## ## WHAT YOU'LL NEED:* BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred* Generally, 10+ years of experience in a related field is preferred* Prior managerial experience preferred* Network, SBE, and/or Project Management certification preferred* Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company's required insurance limits## ## WHAT YOU'LL BRING:* "Customer service first" mindset, ability to deliver a high level of customer service* Strong interpersonal skills* Strategic planning abilities* Excellent managerial skills in working with management, users, staff, peers, and vendors* Excellent written and oral communication skills* Ability to relate technical matters to non-technical users* Ability to relate business matters to technical staff* Team player* Self-directed and can work independently* Strong project management skills* Can manage shifting priorities, demands, and timelines smoothly* Knowledge of FCC rules* Understanding of electronic, electrical, mechanical, and information systems* Keen interest in emerging broadcast-related technologies and how they might be utilized in our business environment## ## WHERE YOU'LL LIVE, WORK, AND PLAY:Kansas City, Missouri, offers the perfect blend of Midwestern charm and metropolitan energy.
