Job summary

Advastar, Inc seeks a Director of Engineering in Florida to lead design and sign-off on concrete products. You will balance code, performance, and manufacturing, owning state/local approvals and technical sign-offs.

The role requires a Florida-licensed engineer (PE) with 10+ years in concrete products; strong communication with customers, architects, and officials is essential. Office-based, standard weekday schedule with competitive base pay and bonus potential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or related engineering field.
• Florida Professional Engineer license strongly preferred.
• 10+ years in concrete products or related building products.
• Experience with structural calculations, drawings, specs, and submissions.
• Working knowledge of Florida Building Code and concrete standards.
• Experience taking a product from testing to production.
• Participation in building code or concrete industry committees.
• Strong communication with customers, architects, engineers, officials.

Responsibilities

• Design new concrete products and improve existing ones, balancing performance, code, manufacturing, and cost.
• Sign off as the licensed engineer on product performance and specs.
• Prepare and maintain state/local product approvals, including testing and renewals.
• Keep product drawings, calculations, specs, and installation details current.
• Support customers, architects, engineers, building officials, sales, manufacturing, and quality.
• Investigate field and product issues and deliver fixes.
• Track building code and industry standard changes and assess impact on the product line.
• Represent the company with code bodies and industry associations.
