Job summary

FutureTech Recruitment is partnering with a fast-growing marketplace startup backed by Scale Ventures. They seek a Senior EM or Director of Engineering to own the Marketplace team—allocation, matching, and distribution systems that balance supply and demand at scale.

You will coach and scale a pod of engineers, drive system design, experimentation, and quarterly roadmaps, and partner with product and data science to optimize incentives, payments, and pricing mechanics.

Qualifications

• Experience leading large marketplace engineering teams.
• Strong background in marketplace, payments, or pricing systems.
• Data-fluent: writes SQL, analyses A/B tests.
• Experience hiring and developing senior engineers.
• AI fluency: uses AI for docs, research, code review, or internal tooling.

They are building infrastructure for one of the largest and most fragmented markets in the world – 8x-ed revenue last year, engineering team tripling this year, and customers including some of the most recognisable names in tech.

They’re now hiring a Senior EM or Director of Engineering to own the Marketplace team - the allocation, matching, and distribution systems that sit at the core of the business. This is a player-coach role with real ownership: incentives, payments, pricing mechanics, A/B testing, and the algorithms that balance supply and demand at scale. Your work directly dictates how the marketplace performs.

Responsibilities

• Own core marketplace health - allocation, matching, and distribution systems that balance supply and demand

Requirements

• Experience hiring and developing senior-leaning software engineers
• AI fluency - uses AI for docs, research, code review, or internal tooling
