Job summary

CRB Workforce is seeking a Director of Engineering in Irvine, CA, to lead multi-brand sales applications and modernization efforts. You will guide teams delivering consumer-facing web properties, dealer tools, and sales systems, driving cloud adoption and platform migrations.

The role requires 15+ years in tech with at least 5 years in director-level leadership, strong cross-cultural collaboration, and hands-on Cloud experience across AWS/Azure/GCP.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in technology with leadership roles.
• 5+ years guiding engineering teams at director level or higher.
• Experience modernizing aging systems and reducing technical debt.
• Experience with SAP, Salesforce, and Java ecosystems.
• Hands-on exposure to at least one major cloud platform (AWS/Azure/GCP).

Responsibilities

• Direct the engineering function behind the Sales Applications organization supporting multiple automotive brand platforms.
• Oversee teams building consumer-facing web properties, dealer tools, and sales systems across the brand portfolio.
• Lead modernization efforts including Salesforce migration, SAP S/4HANA overhaul, and broader cloud adoption.
• Continue supporting mission-critical apps while transforming a large enterprise environment.
• Develop the engineering organization by nurturing talent, improving practices, and building a high-performing team.
• Recruit and retain strong engineers while proactively addressing performance issues.

Job description

Must have skills:

• A minimum of 15 years across the technology field, including at least 5 years guiding engineering groups in a Director-level capacity or higher.
• Track record within both large enterprise settings and fast-moving startup or greenfield environments, combining an understanding of scale with the drive to act quickly and take ownership.
• Demonstrated success steering technology transformations, such as updating aging systems, cutting technical debt, and transitioning from on-premises setups toward cloud-based designs.
• Familiarity managing enterprise application landscapes with visibility into SAP, Salesforce, and Java-based technologies (deep SAP mastery isn't required, but comprehension of the ecosystem and modernization work is essential).
• Hands-on exposure to at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP), with the capability to collaborate alongside infrastructure teams and weigh architectural choices.
• Solid technical leadership credibility, able to assess architecture, question engineering direction, and coach teams without coding daily, along with comfort operating across global, cross-cultural settings
