Job description

The School Nutrition Association (SNA) is seeking its new Director of Engagement and State Relations. The position reports to the Vice President (VP) of Membership and Credentialing and leads SNA’s state affiliate engagement, development for state volunteer leaders, and state relations portfolio. The position serves as a senior resource to state affiliates, strengthening their connection to the national association and supporting their capacity to operate effectively. Leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of state leader education and onboarding programs, including the National Leadership Conference.

SNA is a national, nonprofit professional organization representing 50,000 members who provide high-quality, low-cost meals to students across the country. Recognized as the authority on school nutrition, SNA has been advancing the availability, quality and acceptance of school nutrition programs as an integral part of education since 1946.

The Director will lead SNA’s state affiliate engagement strategy, building strong, productive relationships with state Presidents, Presidents-elect, State Association Executives (SAEs), and other state leaders to strengthen alignment between state affiliates and the National Association and serve as a resource to state leaders on association management, volunteer leadership, and governance-related questions, developing tools, resources, and educational opportunities support effective state leadership.

The Director will supervise the Member Engagement Associate and State Relations Coordinator. SNA operates in remote work environment with employees required to be located in the Metro Washington DC area and able to attend meetings/events designated in-person.
