Job description

The Director of Electrical Construction is responsible for overseeing the essential functions outlined as stated below in this job summary and job description. This individual will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and productive work environment, ensuring collaboration with the organization’s leadership in the development of the Electrical Department, objectives, strategies, policies and procedures. This role is accountable for safety, quality, schedule, and financial performance across the electrical department. Will work to develop leaders, including PM's, Superintendents and General Foremen. Will drive initiatives to build strong relationships with clients, GC's, and suppliers. The Director will set standards aligned with the applicable industry codes to advance operational excellence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Establish the electrical operations and annual planning for budget and forecasting.
  • Align resources for backlog and pipeline
  • Set standards for safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Collaborate with finance on the WIP health, gross margin, and change order performance.
  • Partner with the estimating team to hit targets from pre-construction to close-out.
  • Set processes and procedures to ensure constructability, prefabrication opportunities, and realistic schedules.
  • Implement project delivery excellence with start-up, submittals, RFI's, change management, QA/QC, commissioning and turnover.
  • Oversight to ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E and utility requirements.
  • Drive look-ahead planning, prefabrication, and on time deliveries.
  • Work to reduce rework; enforce performance management aligned with Core Values.
  • Assist with recruiting top talent while mentoring PM's, Superintendents, and Foremen.
  • Build succession planning and enforce performance management that aligns with Core Values.
  • Partner with Safety to keep incidents and injuries below industry standards.
  • Cultivate key accounts, resolve issues quickly, negotiate with Subcontractors and vendors in the best interest of the Company.
  • Champion tools and systems to ensure reliable reporting.
  • Continuously work to improve scorecard metrics and lead corrective actions that are needed for safety, scheduling, percent plan to complete and rework.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • 10+ years electrical construction experience with 5+ years leading multiple commercial projects.
  • Proven accountability for P&L outcomes, WIP and change orders.
  • Expert knowledge of NEC and strong knowledge of state codes and regulatory compliance.
  • Success developing leaders and building high performing teams within the department.
  • Strong communication skills, strong verbal direction and professionalism with clients.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, electrical engineering, or related field is required.
  • Proficiency with estimating software such as McCormick or related software.
  • Experience with BIM, Navisworks and prefabrication strategies.
