Job summary

National-Polytechnic-College- seeks a Director of Education to oversee all academic activities and ensure quality education, accreditation compliance, and a credentialed faculty. This exempt, full-time role reports to the CEO and is based in Lakewood, CA, with relocation required if not local.

You will supervise faculty, manage LMS (Blackboard Ultra), coordinate labs and trainings, and lead curriculum updates while aligning with budget and policy development.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Education preferred; or 4–10 years of related experience.
• Strong strategic thinking, communication, planning/organizational, reasoning, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Experience with an LMS, preferably Blackboard Ultra.
• Ability to analyze technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; respond to inquiries and complaints; and present information effectively.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, set goals and objectives, and adapt strategies to changing conditions.
• Comfortable working in a diverse, dynamic environment.
• 5 years of educational leadership/director experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day academic operations, including faculty hiring, evaluation, and termination; program evaluations; faculty meetings; approval of LOAs, student terminations, and appeals; approval of credit transfers; and student counseling.
• Monitor equipment and supplies; maintain and update the LMS (Blackboard Ultra); contribute to policy and procedure development; manage retention rates within budget limits; approve staff timesheets; and assist with the budget process.
• Develop and oversee curriculum updates for existing programs and the implementation of new programs.
• Maintain program calendars in coordination with program directors and general education instructors.
• Maintain professionalism with instructional staff; attend school functions and special events; complete other tasks and projects as assigned.
• Coordinate and implement off-campus labs and certification trainings with faculty, students, and outside providers.

Job Title: Director of Education
Reports to: CEO of School
Status: Exempt, Full-Time
Pay: $85,000 – $93,000 per year
Work Location: In person — Lakewood, CA 90712 (relocation required if not local)

Summary
The Director of Education oversees all academic activities of the institution, ensuring the provision of quality education and services to students. This role maintains compliance with national accreditation and state regulations and ensures a competent, credentialed faculty. Close collaboration with other departments supports daily operations and strategic planning across the college.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day academic operations, including faculty hiring, evaluation, and termination; program evaluations; faculty meetings; approval of LOAs, student terminations, and appeals; approval of credit transfers; and student counseling
• Monitor equipment and supplies; maintain and update the LMS (Blackboard Ultra); contribute to policy and procedure development; manage retention rates within budget limits; approve staff timesheets; and assist with the budget process

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Manage the Associate Director of Education, academic program directors, instructors, faculty assistants, student services coordinators, registrar's office, Associate Director of Career Services, and administrative support staff
• Hire instructors; provide professional development workshops; conduct class observations; prepare performance evaluations; maintain faculty records; supervise faculty meetings

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Education preferred; or 4–10 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong strategic thinking, communication, planning/organizational, reasoning, interpersonal, and leadership skills
• Experience with an LMS, preferably Blackboard Ultra
• Ability to analyze technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; respond to inquiries and complaints; and present information effectively
