Job description

Overview

New Life International has an exciting Development role!

About New Life International

New Life International’s vision of “A World Transformed by Safe and Living Water” began in 1998 as NLI began bringing hope and healing to a world in need through innovative water purification technology and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. New Life International is a family of ministries partnering to transform the lives of those in greatest need with innovative water, health and environmental solutions through crisis response and community development with the local Church. The life and teachings of Jesus compel us to go, love and serve by walking with the poor, so that they may likewise, walk with others.

Position Overview

The Director of Development is a senior fundraising leader responsible for growing a high-performance, multi-generational development program that propels annual revenue toward NLI’s next $10M annual target.

Reporting to the Executive Director/CEO, the Director oversees institutional giving (churches, foundations, corporations), annual giving, planned giving, grant development, digital giving, and special events.

This key senior leadership role builds a sustainable, major‑gift culture, strengthens donor pipelines, and leads marketing & communications to advance NLI’s global mission.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute NLI’s comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet/exceed annual revenue goals.
  • Build and maintain a strong major‑gift pipeline; manage personal portfolio of top donors.
  • Expand donor base across individuals, churches, corporations, and foundations.
  • Oversee annual giving, planned giving, grants, sponsorships, and donor engagement groups.
  • Guide development, marketing, and communications teams to ensure message and brand alignment.
  • Strengthen and grow NLI’s endowment (our Agape Fund).
  • Partner with the Executive Director, Board, Development Committee, and Sr. Leadership Team to drive donor engagement and governance-level fundraising.
  • Ensure effective CRM use (Bloomerang or similar), reporting, and donor stewardship systems.
  • Implement metrics-driven systems for evaluating fundraising performance and pipeline growth.
  • Leverage crisis-response funding towards long term relationships to fuel strategic ministry initiatives.
Relationships & Representation
  • Reports to Executive Director as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Supervises development, marketing, communications, and donor engagement teams.
  • Works closely with the Board; grows a Development Committee.
  • Strategic coordination with department and initiative leaders.
Leadership Attributes
  • Mature follower of Jesus Christ, committed to demonstrating and proclaiming the Gospel.
  • Strong team builder with excellent interpersonal, coaching, and cross-cultural skills.
  • Exceptional writing, communication, public speaking, and presentation ability.
  • Highly organized, systems thinker; excels in project management and strategic execution.
  • Able to work effectively in fast‑paced and disaster‑response environments.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, CRM platforms, and digital engagement tools.
  • Anticipates needs, handles pressure well, and fosters healthy internal and external relationships.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, JD, CFRE, or similar advanced training preferred.
  • 7–10+ years senior-level fundraising experience in nonprofit, ministry, or complex organizational settings.
  • Demonstrated success in securing major gifts ($100K+), planned gifts, and leading campaigns.
  • Proven ability to expand donor pipelines and cultivate next-generation supporters.
  • Experience developing metrics, reporting dashboards, and data-driven development systems.
  • CRM experience (Bloomerang or similar) required.
