Job summary

American Express is seeking a Director of Cybersecurity to guide enterprise security strategy within the Information Security organization. You will lead and mentor teams, manage budgets, and drive risk-based programs across IAM, threat modeling, and security architecture.

The role emphasizes collaboration with senior leadership, regulatory compliance, and the deployment of advanced PAM controls and AI-enabled security innovations across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity; advanced degree preferred.
• Knowledge of security frameworks and best practices.
• Knowledge of Network Security and Application Security.
• Knowledge of Threat Modeling.
• Knowledge of Identity & Access Management (IAM).
• Knowledge of Cloud Security Management.
• Knowledge of global regulatory requirements and industry standards for cybersecurity.
• Knowledge of Data Security Management.
• Knowledge of security testing & remediation.
• Knowledge of scripting languages for automating security tasks.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and mentors teams in Cybersecurity to foster learning and inclusivity.
• Manages resource allocation, timelines, and budgets to align cybersecurity projects with goals.
• Collaborates with senior leadership to hire talent and ensure retention.
• Drives strategic initiatives in cybersecurity, managing risk and regulatory compliance.
• Leads responses to complex security and operational events across cross-functional teams.
• Develops and enforces advanced security policies, procedures, and standards.
• Develops strategies for vulnerability management and integration of assessments.
• Ensures effectiveness of security controls through audits and metrics.
• Maintains relationships with external partners and regulatory bodies to stay updated.
• Engages stakeholders to prioritize and implement critical security recommendations.
• Collaborates with product and business teams to align technology with business objectives.
• Leads Privilege Access Management across the enterprise; drives PAM transformation with Agentic AI.
