LA Tutors 123 is a test preparation, academic consultation, and private tutoring company. We started LA Tutors 123 with a unique vision to transform the cumbersome way students are forced to learn and to provide the highest quality one-on-one and small group instruction in the LA area. While building a core team of dedicated tutors, we have adopted innovative methods and curricula in order to assist students in achieving their specific scholastic goals. We have built our team around the notion that tutors with impeccable credentials can be good, but tutors with proven real-world experience to add to these credentials can be excellent. At LA Tutors 123 we strive for superior tutors.

We offer a full range of one-on-one and small group programs that can be grouped into four categories:

1) K-12 and College Admissions Test Prep such as PSAT, SAT, ACT, ISEE, etc.

2) Graduate Level Admissions Test Prep such as GRE and GMAT.

3) Other professional Test Prep such as CSET, CBEST, TOEFL, etc.

3) K-12 and college level academic tutoring

We are seeking a Director of Curriculum & Instruction who will be responsible for the continuous development and delivery of our K-12 Test Prep, SAT/ACT/ISEE curriculum, teaching test prep classes, and training the new tutors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop continuing education courses in print-based and online formats
• Review current SAT and ACT curriculum and make improvements as needed
• Develop and design SAT, ACT, ISEE workbooks, lesson plans using PowerPoint slides, and practice problems
• Create marketing materials for the company, such as sample questions and answers, blog posts, etc.
• Serve as the "public face" for the company when interacting with students and instructors
• Deliver demonstrations of the company's services to potential clients and referral sources
• Provide private tutoring of students, either one-on-one or in groups, potentially up to 30 hours a week
• Prospect new candidates through classroom observation, test scores & evaluations
• Develop and deliver training program for new hires and craft professional development workshops for existing tutors
• Collaborate with the Education Coordinator to deliver excellent customer service by guaranteeing support with classroom materials
• Assist with other projects -- flexibility is key!

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field. (Master’s preferred)
• Extensive experience in curriculum development
• Broad experience as an ACT/SAT/ISEE instructor
• Deep knowledge of the SAT, ACT and other K-12 standardized tests
• Strong understanding of the US college application process
• Passionate educator who possess strong verbal and written skills
• Strong leadership and management skills
• Excellent interpersonal and listening skills as well as strong verbal communication abilities
• Creative and inspired to initiate and develop new educational programs

COMPENSATION

Depending on experience the salary will be $45-75K per year, plus a generous bonus program.
