Job description

Director of Construction - East Coast

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of a construction project from entitlements through construction, including third‑party contractor and A&E consultant contracts.
  • Oversee entitlements, design, budgeting, estimating, scheduling, and sequencing of work.
  • Lead the A&E RFP process, create fee‑comparison spreadsheets, award A&E contracts, and manage due diligence for project documentation.
  • Ensure contract risk mitigation, validate subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders, and manage the change‑order process.
  • Act as liaison between Internal Design Studio, A&E consultants, Development, Construction, Operations, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain a Master Project Schedule, track documentation progress against deliverables, and manage budget and financial reporting.
  • Drive enforcement of safety protocols, oversee field operation and engineering processes, and lead risk evaluation and contract negotiations.
  • Manage the closeout process with contractors and A&E consultants, and participate in project‑control meetings.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in construction project management, including preconstruction, bidding, and closeout.
  • Proven track record managing large‑scale commercial or mixed‑use projects from inception to completion.
  • Experience leading A&E RFP processes, contract negotiations, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, LEED AP, or equivalent are a plus.
  • Deep understanding of construction codes, building regulations, and technical design standards.
  • Proficiency in estimating, scheduling, and sequencing of work.
  • Strong ability to manage budgets, interpret financial reports, and maintain project financial goals.
  • Experience with cost analysis, forecasting, and financial reporting tools.
  • Expertise in Master Project Scheduling and tracking deliverables against milestones.
  • Skilled in documentation management and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project) and Excel.
  • Ability to lead cross‑functional teams including design studios, consultants, contractors, and operations.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Compensation Exempt: $141,000 – $200,000 plus discretionary annual bonus.
  • Travel expectation: up to 50%.
  • Location: Corporate office in Century City, CA.
