The California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco seeks a Director of Community Programs to lead strategy, implementation, and assessment of programs for local communities, internships, volunteers, and youth. Reporting to the Chief of Education and Learning, you will collaborate across divisions to catalyze transformative learning and engagement.

You will manage ~10 staff, oversee a budget, and build external partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and donors.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in science or environmental education and 14+ years of experience in informal science education.
• MA/MS in science communication, informal education, or related field preferred.
• 7-10 years of supervisory leadership in education programs.
• Experience designing informal science and action-focused education for communities and youth.
• Grant writing and donor relations experience; multi-organizational partnerships.

Responsabilités

• Devise, articulate, and implement strategy for 21st century learning experiences for high school and undergraduate students and local residents.
• Expand community programs with staff management, resources, and guidance across teams.
• Design and evaluate programs through Social and Environmental Justice lens for SF communities.
• Lead and manage Education Internship & Mentorship, Education Volunteer, and Careers in Science programs.
