Job summary

Grace Covenant Church in Harrisonburg, Virginia is seeking a Communications Director to oversee print and digital channels, ensuring content is compelling and reflects the church's heart. You will coordinate messaging and support ministry staff with timely, strategic communications.

You will lead volunteer teams, manage branding, and link creative storytelling with outreach. The role emphasizes writing, editing, basic video skills, and social media, while fostering a consistent, authentic voice

Qualifications

• Committed and growing disciple of Jesus.
• B.A. or B.S. in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or comparable experience.
• Proven ability to write, edit or produce a body of work that conveys an idea clearly.
• Technical ability: basic video editing, Canva graphics, or basic staff tech support.
• Understanding of Digital / Social media communications.
• Experience with project scheduling or coordination.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Present a unified church identity and message by producing and coordinating all communication.
• Serve the Ministry Staff by prompting the “how, when and why” of all church communication.
• Develop and lead teams of volunteers gifted in both written and media communications so that flexible and comprehensive coverage of church activity is achieved.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to write, edit or produce a body of work that effectively conveys an idea or concept.
• Technical ability such as basic video editing, making graphics in Canva, and/or providing basic tech support to the staff.
• Demonstrated understanding of Digital / Social media communications.
• Experience with project scheduling or coordination.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay: $30,000 – $40,000 per year.

• 4‑hour shift
• 8‑hour shift
• Weekends as needed

Location & Relocation

Work Location: In person (Rockingham, VA 22801). Relocate before starting work (Required).
