Job summary

Cal Poly's BioResource and Agricultural Engineering Department seeks a tenured Department Head to provide strategic leadership for instruction, research, and engagement with alumni, donors and industry. The role leads 11 tenure-line faculty, 3 full-time lecturers, part-time faculty and staff, supporting ~340 students across BRAE and ASM.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and possibly graduate BRAE courses, engage in scholarly activity, and advance curriculum and assessment

Qualifications

• A doctorate in agricultural engineering, or a closely related engineering field.
• Distinguished record of achievement for tenured Full Professor within BRAE.
• Hands-on engineering education in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Demonstrated leadership and management of students, faculty, staff and community.
• Commitment to a respectful, inclusive, nondiscriminatory learning environment.
• Strong scholarly record including publications, grants, and interdisciplinary projects.
• Teaching excellence across modalities.
• Broad knowledge of BRAE topics including irrigation, mechanical systems, automation, and food safety.
• Experience in collaborative priority setting, mentoring and professional development.
• Ability to lead outreach and fundraising aligned with CAFES mission.
• Outstanding written and verbal English communication skills.

Responsibilities
