Alto-Shaam in Wisconsin is seeking a Director of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering to lead the Manufacturing Engineering function and partner with Design, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations to keep production stable and improvements. Reports to VP of Manufacturing.

Ideal candidate has 12+ years in manufacturing, 5+ years leading teams with budget responsibility, and experience with ROI-driven capital investments, lean methods, and stage-gate NPI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering.
• 12+ years in manufacturing or process engineering with leadership experience.
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams with budget responsibility.
• Experience with stage-gate new product introductions.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and standard work in high-mix environments.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and team coaching.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Manufacturing Engineering team and manage budget, capex, and tech roadmap.
• Lead manufacturing tech for new products: DFA, pilots, trials, launches.
• Own multi-year capital equipment roadmap from business case to install.
• Design manufacturing systems and manage ECO processes and standards.
• Support value streams with sustaining engineering, yield, and cost-down results.
• Evaluate automation and advanced manufacturing tech.

The Director of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering leads Alto-Shaam's Manufacturing Engineering function and reports to the VP of Manufacturing. The role is accountable for how new products are industrialized, how manufacturing technology and capital equipment are deployed, how factory systems are designed, and how engineering changes and standards are managed, while partnering with value stream leaders to keep production stable and improving. The Director works closely with Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, and Continuous Improvement.

The ideal candidate for a Director of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering would be able to do the following:

• Lead, coach, and develop the Manufacturing Engineering team; own the department budget, capital plan, and technology roadmap.
• Serve as manufacturing technology lead for new products: influence design for manufacturability, lead pilots and equipment trials, and support launch and ramp.
• Own the multi-year capital equipment roadmap for forming and finishing, from business case through installation.
• Lead manufacturing system design (layout, line balance, material flow, and cell design) with Continuous Improvement and Manufacturing leaders.
• Own the engineering change order (ECO) process and manufacturing engineering standards.
• Support the value streams through sustaining engineering, driving yield, scrap, and cost-down results.
• Evaluate and pilot automation and advanced manufacturing technology.

For a candidate to be successful as a Director of Advanced Manufacturing Engineer they must have:

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
• 12+ years in manufacturing or process engineering, including 5+ years leading engineering teams with budget responsibility.
• Proven leadership of new product introduction from a manufacturing engineering perspective within a stage-gate process.
• Experience owning an engineering change process and justifying capital equipment investment (ROI, total cost of ownership).
• Working knowledge of manufacturing system design, lean manufacturing, and standard work in a high-mix environment.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to hire and coach a technical team.

Preferred

• Master's degree or MBA; Six Sigma certification.
• Experience with automation, robotics, or controls, and with laser cutting, forming, welding, press, and finishing processes.
