Job summary

United Way Houston is seeking a Director to lead the Nonprofit Connection (NPC) team, strengthening the Greater Houston nonprofit ecosystem by developing nonprofit talent and advancing growth and resiliency through grant funding strategies.

The role will coordinate programs, webinars, workshops, and partnerships, oversee contracts and MOUs, and engage community partners to foster collaboration and learning.

Qualifications

• 8-10 years of experience developing tools and strategies for nonprofits to secure public funding.
• Familiarity with working and building connections within the Houston nonprofit community.
• Strong relationship-building, public speaking, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the delivery of tools and strategies associated with grant funding and assist in the coordination of public and cohort-based webinars and workshops.
• Coordinate with contract consultant(s) to create learning experiences (in-person, online, self-directed).
• Develop and manage a grant application, selection and monitoring process; plan quarterly Grant Advisory Committee meetings.
• Coordinate NPC workshops and webinars and recruit pro-bono speakers to support leadership circles.

## Description#### The Director will work within the Nonprofit Connection (NPC) team to strengthen the Greater Houston nonprofit ecosystem and ensure that nonprofit organizations, leaders, and networks develop the expertise to achieve success in pursuing local, state, and federal public grants. The incumbents' purpose will be to develop nonprofit talent; advance nonprofit growth and resiliency; connect nonprofit organizations to resources; and unite people, partners, and collaborative networks to facilitate collective action and learning.#### **PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*** **Nonprofit** **Capacity Building:**Oversee the delivery of tools and strategies associated with grant funding and assist in the coordination of public and cohort-based webinars and workshops that address all facets of the public funding continuum. Coordinate with contract consultant(s) to create relevant forms of learning: in-person, online and self-directed best suited to deliver content. Research and share timely resources aligned with learning objectives for program participants. Develop and manage a grant application, selection and monitoring process. Plan and implement quarterly Grant Advisory Committee meetings, providing timely updates and sharing evaluation results.Assist with development of NPC workshops and webinars, using results of annual Professional Development survey to plan content. Work with Community Resource Center Director to secure and monitor spaces for annual reservation calendar. Recruit pro-bono speakers to deliver desired content. Coordinate annual Board Fair. Secure pro bono facilitators to support the development of new Leaders Circles and Learning Circles. Recruit candidates for circle membership.* **Program Coordination and Oversight:**provide support for grant program and ongoing NPC activities. Develop and monitor departmental work plans and budgets. coordinate the project work of staff and consultants to ensure achievement of key performance indicators. Oversee the execution and monitoring of professional contracts and MOUs with consultants, evaluators, community partners and vendors.* **Community Engagement:**Build and maintain relationships with diverse organizational partners. Convene and facilitate small and large group discussions. Actively seek opportunities to foster partnerships and collaborative ventures.* **Cross-functional Engagement:** Build strong cross-functional relationships with internal departments and consultants. Maintain open channels of communication## Qualifications#### **EXPERIENCE**:8-10 years of experience developing tools and strategies for nonprofits to secure public funding. Familiarity with working and building connections within the Houston nonprofit community. Must possess working knowledge of the public funding continuum and the ability to oversee and manage several projects simultaneously. Strong relationship-building, public speaking, and problem-solving skills are required.#### **EDUCATION:**Bachelors or better in Nonprofit Studies / American Humanics or related field required. Masters or better in Business Administration or related field preferred.
