Job summary

Hanwha Defense USA is seeking a Director of Engineering for Naval Shipbuilding to lead and grow the naval engineering organization, aligning international design and production with U.S. Navy requirements.

You will oversee design, systems integration, and engineering standards while coordinating with executives and government customers. The role requires 15+ years in naval ship design or construction and at least 5 years in leadership, with travel and security clearance responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in naval architecture, marine engineering, or related discipline.
• 15+ years in naval ship design, construction, or integration.
• At least 5 years in an engineering leadership role.
• Experience contributing to government proposals with cost and schedule estimates.

Responsibilities

• Deputize the engineering lead and act on their behalf in technical and customer matters.
• Develop and organize the engineering function: staffing, processes, and standards.
• Oversee design, systems integration, and naval architecture across programs.
• Translate international shipyard practices to meet U.S. Navy requirements.
• Contribute to proposals with basis‑of‑estimate, labor, and schedule estimates.
• Represent HDUSA to executives, customers, and partners.
• Ensure export controls and ITAR/EAR compliance with international partners.
