This role will work closely with senior leadership to ensure integration and enhance business value through various critical platforms including ERP, HRIS, Finance, and more.

The successful candidate will need a Bachelor's degree in a related field, along with extensive experience in enterprise applications and team management. This position requires presence in the Santa Clara, CA office for 4 days a week.

Job description

Director, MIS – Software Applications

The Director, MIS – Software Applications at Ambarella will lead the strategy, development, and governance of our core enterprise application ecosystem. This role focuses on driving measurable business value by partnering with senior leadership, defining and executing an enterprise applications roadmap, and ensuring seamless end‑to‑end lifecycle management across ERP, HRIS, Finance, Supply Chain, CRM, and other business‑critical platforms.

This leader will champion strong application governance, enforce SOX and data‑privacy compliance, and proactively mitigate risk in collaboration with Information Security and Internal Audit. With oversight of global teams, system integrators, and software vendors, the Director will optimize total cost of ownership, enhance user experience and adoption, and deliver high‑quality, scalable solutions that support Ambarella’s long‑term growth.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a trusted technology advisor to senior leaders and collaborate closely with functional leaders to prioritize initiatives and deliver measurable business value.
  • Provide leadership and direction for core enterprise platforms (e.g., ERP, HRIS, CRM, Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and custom business applications).
  • Define and execute the enterprise application strategy and roadmap, aligned with business priorities and long‑term growth plans.
  • Oversee the end‑to‑end application lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Implement strong application governance, including access controls, data integrity, segregation of duties, and audit readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX, data privacy regulations, information security policies, and internal IT controls.
  • Partner with Information Security and Internal Audit to proactively identify and mitigate application‑related risks.
  • Drive continuous improvement in user experience and system adoption.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing global applications team, fostering accountability, technical excellence, and collaboration.
  • Manage system integrators, software vendors, and outsourcing partners to ensure quality delivery and cost effectiveness.
  • Own the applications budget, including operating expenses, capital investments, and vendor contracts.
  • Optimize total cost of ownership while ensuring service quality and business continuity.
  • Provide regular reporting on project status, risks, and performance metrics to executive leadership.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in enterprise application management, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
  • Deep experience with large‑scale enterprise platforms (ERP, HRIS, Finance, Supply Chain, CRM) and complex system integrations.
  • Demonstrated success in managing and implementing the following platforms: Workday, Oracle 12, Azure, Adaptive.
  • Strong understanding of IT governance, SOX controls, data security, and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead global teams and manage complex, cross‑functional initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with senior business leaders and influencing at the executive level.
  • Must work in our Santa Clara, CA offices 4 days a week.
Compensation

The base range is $251,000-$275,000. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. We also offer new hire RSU grants and the opportunity for annual RSU grants, as well as other highly competitive benefits.
