Job summary

Cedars-Sinai is seeking a Director of Laboratory Services to lead operational and financial planning across the department. The role collaborates with the Medical Director on clinical services, drives state-of-the-art testing standards, and ensures regulatory compliance and quality across all laboratory activities.

The Director provides accountability for performance and financial integrity, and exercises broad authority to implement organizational priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required for California licensure.
• Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards across all operations.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field (California licensure required)

Master's Degree in Biological science, clinical laboratory science, quality, healthcare administration, or related field (preferred)

Job description

Job Description Reporting to the Executive Director of Support Services and the Medical Director of Lab. The Director is responsible for developing short-and long-range planning of operational and financial goals and objectives on all matters related to the department. Coordinates with the Medical Director on all matters related to the department's clinical services. Engages in strategic planning to ensure state-of-the-art technology and quality services in all areas of responsibility. Ensures the development of standards and testing procedures that meet the needs of patients and physicians and ensures compliance with regulatory standards. Provides direct oversight and accountability for departmental performance and the financial integrity of laboratory operations. Exercises broad decision-making authority in directing laboratory operations and executing organizational priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related biological or chemical science that supports California licensure requirements. - minimum
• Master's Degree Biological science, clinical laboratory science, quality, public health, healthcare administration, business administration, or related field. - preferred

Experience

• 7 years Progressively responsible clinical laboratory experience - minimum
• 3 years Management experience with direct reports in a complex healthcare setting. - minimum

Licenses and Certifications

• Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Upon Hire minimum Current and unrestricted; maintained throughout employment.
• Upon Hire preferred ASCP, AAB, or equivalent specialty certification - Certification relevant to the assigned specialty or program area.
