Job summary

Latigo Bio in Thousand Oaks, CA, is seeking an Associate Director/Director of Medicinal Chemistry to lead multidisciplinary drug discovery efforts. The role requires deep expertise in organic chemistry, DMPK concepts, and cross-functional collaboration with CROs and internal teams.

The candidate will drive project leadership from hit-to-lead to candidate selection, contribute to patent writing, and shape the chemistry infrastructure and culture of the department.

Qualifications

• PhD in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry with 8–12 years of industrial drug discovery experience.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary medicinal chemistry projects.
• Strong publications and patents in medicinal chemistry.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead day-to-day project-based medicinal chemistry efforts from the bench.
• Lead/co-lead drug discovery projects.
• Utilize medicinal chemistry acumen and data analysis software for hypothesis generation.
• Direct and partner with CROs.
• Collaborate with Latigo's medicinal chemists, computational chemists, and cross-functional scientists.
• Develop strategies to enhance drug design capabilities and identify high-quality leads for new projects.
• Develop and maintain relevant SOPs, policies, procedures, and systems for the department.
• Contribute to building chemistry infrastructure and company culture.
