Job description

Director, Market Intelligence

The Market Intelligence Director will partner directly with marketers to recommend, plan and execute market research, in pursuit of a deeper understanding of customers' attitudes, beliefs and motivations. The Director will synthesize across all research studies, collaborate with analytics counterparts and provide a concise narrative of opportunities that he/she will share in various forums (insight sessions, ops/strategic planning, etc.) to influence marketers to act. This role will also play a key role in continuing to progress our capabilities, with a goal of uncovering ways (new vendors, new methodologies, and AI-powered approaches) to uncover more authentic, timely and actionable insights. The Director will report into the head of the Commercial Insights lead team and will work with teammates (market researchers, business analytics) to tie together primary and secondary research in the pursuit of better customer understanding & business opportunities. The Director will also collaborate and coordinate with global Insights team on the research projects. The primary stakeholders for this role will be the Senior Directors, Directors, and Managers within the Business Unit.

  • Work directly with marketers to recommend & scope market research, leveraging AI tools to accelerate study design, discussion guide development, and demand study planning across therapeutic areas including complex anti-infective launches
  • Manage ongoing market research projects to ensure milestones are being achieved
  • Communicate core market research findings; employ AI-assisted synthesis to distill insights from ATU tracking, qualitative research, and eDetail studies into clear, stakeholder-ready narratives and executive summaries
  • Collaborate with other groups to pull in additional voice of customer findings (analytics, global Insights, etc.), integrating secondary data sources such as IQVIA with primary research using AI-enabled analysis to strengthen the business story
  • Synthesize across multiple findings to develop brand opportunities that will be shared in various venues (Strat/Ops Plans, CLT decks, Insight Review Sessions, investor materials, etc.); use AI to accelerate cross-study synthesis and surface patterns across large research bodies
  • Progress market research capabilities by identifying emerging methodologies and refreshing list of vendors — and pioneering the responsible integration of AI into the market research workflow, including establishing AI governance frameworks and PMR process standards for the team

  • Drive customer journey and patient pathway work, leveraging AI to map, redesign, and document HCP and patient journeys that surface actionable commercial opportunities
  • Manage market research budgets and oversee cost saving initiatives across BUs, with AI-enabled efficiencies reducing cycle time on synthesis, reporting, and vendor assessment
  • Coaching and guiding Market Intelligence managers in the team on best practices in market research, cross-team collaboration, and the effective use of AI tools to enhance insight quality and delivery speed
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Market research experience in a commercial Biopharma company
  • Methodological knowledge of and experience in relevant market research approaches and techniques with a mindset of continuous improvement
  • Proven ability to use market research results to influence decision-making and drive forward opportunities
  • Evidence of business acumen, cross-team collaboration, communication, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI tools to accelerate research synthesis, study design, stakeholder communications, and insight delivery
  • 10+ years of market research experience with the last few being in the lead role
  • Knowledge and experience working in the field of Specialty/Immunology. This would include complex elements of sales promotion across Biologics and Vaccines, non-retail, patient gateways, field reimbursement engagement, buy and bill selling models, longer selling cycles, and contracting
  • Experience leading AI governance initiatives within a Pharma market research or commercial insights function, including establishing responsible use standards and process frameworks for the team
  • Track record of leveraging AI to deliver faster, higher-quality insights across ATU tracking, qualitative synthesis, customer journey mapping, and vendor/proposal evaluation
