Job summary

The American Housing Corporation in Austin, TX is seeking a Head of Manufacturing Engineering to lead the manufacturing and assembly of our proprietary building system. You will own factory layout, equipment procurement, buildout, commissioning and optimization.

You will build and lead a cross-disciplinary team, collaborate with mechanical engineering and architecture to refine kit-of-parts, secure certifications, and manage supply chain, quality, and delivery while tracking KPIs and budgeting

Qualifications

• 7+ years in hardware development with 3+ years in a leadership role.
• Strong background in mechanical design, structural analysis, DFMA, and production.
• Proven experience delivering large hardware products from prototypes to full-rate production.
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Bachelor's or higher in a technical discipline preferred, not required.

As the Head of Manufacturing Engineering, you will be responsible for the manufacturing and assembly of our building system — a proprietary kit-of-parts for building high-quality housing.

What You'll Do

• The factory is your product — you will own everything from factory layout, equipment procurement, and factory buildout to commissioning and optimization of the factory

• Build and lead a team of engineers, manufacturing specialists, and technicians to design, build, and operate the manufacturing facility to produce our building system

• Collaborate with mechanical engineering and architecture teams to refine our kit-of-parts for manufacturability

• Obtain and maintain all necessary certifications and approvals for the manufacturing facilities

• Manage supply chain, quality, assembly, and delivery — work with company leadership to hire for these roles in the near future

• Establish and track KPIs to understand how our engineering and manufacturing decisions are impacting the quality and cost of our buildings

• Manage manufacturing budget, work with company leadership to project future capital requirements

• Proven experience delivering large complex hardware products from low-rate prototypes to full-rate production

• Bachelor of Science or higher degree in a technical discipline preferred, not required

Compensation

The overall cash compensation for this position ranges from $180,000 to $250,000. All of our positions also offer a compensation package that includes equity and robust benefits.
