Job summary

WM is seeking a leader to drive corporate business development due diligence from LOI to close for complex acquisitions typically exceeding $10M. You will coordinate with Tier Business Development leaders, area teams, and stakeholders across Finance, Legal, Tax, HR, Digital, Ops, Real Estate and EHS to ensure smooth execution and a strong investment case.

  • Manage complex acquisitions (typically 10M+) and guide area due diligence teams.
  • Coordinate with Sellers and WM’s internal stakeholders across the transaction lifecycle.
  • Own the deal timeline, scope, information requirements, and escalation path.
  • Synthesize diligence findings into a cohesive investment assessment prior to signing APA.
  • Lead the transition of completed acquisitions to the Integration Team, post-close.

Job description

I. Job Summary

Lead the Corporate Business Development due diligence process from the Letter of Intent (LOI) stage through close. Manage complex acquisitions (typically 10M+) and provide guidance to Area due diligence teams on smaller transactions. This role requires strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills to effectively coordinate Sellers and WM's internal stakeholders throughout the transaction lifecycle.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Tier Business Development VPs, Senior Strategic Analysts and Directors to lead the Area Business Development Representatives through the Business Development process from pipeline identification through close.

  • Serve as the primary facilitator and process owner between the Seller and WM’s Area leadership team, Area, Finance, Legal, Tax, HR, Digital, Ops, Safety, Fleet, Real Estate, and EHS for deals under LOI

  • Primary point of contact between the Seller and WM for all due diligence and pre-closing transition matters on large or complex acquisitions under LOI. Partner with the Area Business Development team to communicate with Sellers on smaller deals.

  • Own the deal timeline, decision process, meeting cadence, and escalation path

  • Define diligence scope, timelines, and information requirements

  • Coordinate all due diligence activities across the deal team and Seller

  • Organize, review and manage access to the Virtual Deal Room (Deal Room)

  • Resolve cross-functional issues and dependencies throughout diligence and integration planning.

  • Synthesize findings from all diligence workstreams into a cohesive investment assessment prior to signing APA

  • Consolidate risks, opportunities, assumptions, and key conclusions into the business case on what makes this specific company a strategic fit.

  • Drive the deal toward decision-ready recommendations and present key findings to leadership

  • Keep Business Development focused on seller engagement while streamlining deal execution across the transaction team.

  • Lead the transition of completed acquisitions to the Integration Team, ensuring effective knowledge transfer, issue resolution, and post-close support through the first 90 days.

  • Develop, disseminate, and maintain the standards, policies, and procedures for Business Development in coordination with key stakeholders

III. Qualifications
A. Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in finance, accounting, business administrations, or related field.

  • 10+ years At least 10 years related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. and

B. Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree (accredited) in finance, accounting, business administrations, or related field.

Pay: The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S. is $137,200 - $209,000. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for bonus.
