The Director of Internal Communications will ensure that employees around the world understand and act upon the company’s business objectives, strategic initiatives and mission, vision and values, as well as their role in achieving them. The individual in this position proactively plans, organizes and leads Internal Communications activities, and works closely with the Human Resources division to implement HR communications to over 2400 employees. The incumbent will design high impact communications vehicles, processes and tools to enhance employee engagement, deliver operational excellence, promote the corporate brand and facilitate organizational effectiveness. Keys to success will be building and nurturing effective working relationships with business and functional leaders.

Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee the work of the internal communications staff ensuring that all deliverables are comprehensive, insightful and increase knowledge base for ETS staff

  • Proactively identify solutions to address communication needs of both field offices and global subsidiaries

  • Lead, design and implement a common internal communications infrastructure; outline communication tools and establish expectations for their use

  • Oversee the strategy and management of all internal communications vehicles

  • Determine the strategic value of these resources and optimize their usage to ensure effective and consistent messages throughout the company

  • Develop communication-related performance targets and quantifiably measure progress

  • Provide ongoing strategic counsel to senior levels of management throughout the company on internal communications strategies in support of internal events

  • Identify opportunities for senior management to communicate with internal audiences

  • Work closely with colleagues in external communications functions to ensure that messages sent to employees are timely, compelling and consistent with what is being communicated to key outside constituencies

  • Cultivate proactive communication plans with HR and the Corporate Strategy office to help ensure a constant flow of HR and strategy-related information to various audiences

  • Maintain knowledge of current internal communications techniques and practices and use that knowledge to continue to enhance internal communication efforts

  • Adhere to ethical standards and comply with the laws and regulations applicable to the job function

Education
  • A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary
Experience
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in Corporate Communications
Skills
  • Able to understand the big picture and translate its relevance to smaller communication/tactics

  • Ability to manage projects across multiple client groups

  • Excellent judgment in knowing how and when to communicate up the leadership chain

  • Pays attention to detail, meaning is thorough in accomplishing a task with concern for all areas involved, no matter how small.

  • Interpersonal, negotiating and communication skills suitable for dealings with all levels of staff

  • Established journalistic track record and proven editing experience

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills; familiarity with AP style preferred

  • Strong project management and multi-tasking skills with ability to prioritize consistently across evolving work portfolio

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Political savvy

  • Ability to maneuver through challenging discussions keeping the primary purpose of the particular effort in the forefront of decision making

  • Must be self-motivated to ensure deadlines achieved

  • The base salary range advertised represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. The base pay is only one aspect of the Total Rewards Package that will be offered to the successful candidate.
