Job description

Director, Indirect Procurement

Long Beach, California

At Relativity Space, we're building rockets to serve today's needs and tomorrow's breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. But that's just the start. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.

Joining Relativity means becoming part of something where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level. Here, you’re not just executing tasks; you’re solving problems that haven’t been solved before, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether you’re in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or a corporate function, you’ll collaborate across teams, shape decisions, and see your work come to life in record time. Relativity is a place where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice will help define the stories we’re writing together. Now is a unique moment in time where it’s early enough to leave your mark on the product, the process, and the culture, but far enough along that Terran R is tangible and picking up momentum. The most meaningful work of your career is waiting. Join us.

About the Team

The Supply Chain team turns design intent into executable reality, balancing lead time, cost, complexity, and manufacturability to ensure we can build and scale Terran R. On this team, you’re not just placing orders; you’re actively shaping the solution. With full ownership across raw materials, capital equipment, and services, the role requires both strategic thinking and day‑to‑day execution. As the company scales, supply chain becomes increasingly central, working closely with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and more to make decisions that work for today but also for tomorrow. This is a team for those who want to operate at the intersection of technical ambition and business execution, driving tangible progress to keep the Terran R program on track.

About the Role

As Director of Indirect Procurement, you will lead the strategy, sourcing, and supplier management activities that enable Relativity Space’s operations, infrastructure, and corporate functions to scale efficiently. This role will own procurement across key indirect spend categories including capital facilities, consumable, data and hosting, IT hardware/software, professional services, logistics, contingent labor, and corporate services. You will build strong cross‑functional partnerships, develop scalable procurement processes, and drive cost, quality, and service performance while supporting the rapid growth and production goals of Terran R. This role requires a strategic operator who can balance long‑term procurement strategy with hands‑on execution in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

  • Define and execute Relativity Space’s indirect procurement strategy across operational, technical, and corporate spend categories
  • Lead sourcing, supplier selection, negotiations, and contract management
  • Develop lasting commodity strategies to underpin Relativity’s long‑term needs
  • Own executive external partner relationships
  • Build and maintain strong supplier partnerships that support cost, quality, delivery, scalability, and operational continuity objectives
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing, Facilities, Finance, IT, Legal, Security, and business leaders to align procurement strategies with company priorities and production needs
  • Develop category strategies, supplier roadmaps, and competitive sourcing approaches that improve efficiency and reduce total cost of ownership
  • Establish and track procurement KPIs related to savings, supplier performance, cycle time, compliance, and operational execution
  • Lead commercial negotiations for complex agreements, including master service agreements, software licensing, construction contracts, and enterprise services
  • Build scalable procurement policies, controls, and governance processes that support a rapidly growing aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Identify and mitigate supplier, operational, and commercial risks while ensuring continuity of critical business operations
  • Mentor and develop a high‑performing procurement team, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience in complex manufacturing or high‑growth industries (aerospace, defense, automotive, technology, or industrial manufacturing preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience leading procurement teams and cross‑functional initiatives
  • Proven experience managing indirect procurement categories such as facilities, capital equipment, construction, IT/software, MRO, logistics, and professional services
  • Strong commercial negotiation and contract management experience with demonstrated success driving cost savings and supplier performance
  • Strong analytical, operational, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization
  • Experience with ERP, procurement, and sourcing systems in a manufacturing environment
Nice to Have but Not Required
  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration (MBA), Engineering, or related field
  • Experience supporting large‑scale manufacturing operations, factory expansion projects, or production ramp environments
  • Familiarity with aerospace or defense industry procurement requirements, including ITAR/export controls
  • Experience implementing procurement systems, strategic sourcing programs, or enterprise‑wide process transformation initiatives
  • Background supporting frontier technology, launch vehicle, aviation, or advanced manufacturing programs
