Job summary

The NAB Leadership Foundation seeks a Newscast Director to coordinate the efforts of all technical operators during live and recorded broadcasts. You will supervise staff, train operators, and act as the liaison between engineering and production to deliver a clean, high-energy newscast.

Working closely with news producers, you will ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment and oversee camera/video operations, switching, and equipment testing during live air.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Fluency in English required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Minimum two years' experience in news operations and production.
• Proficiency with office equipment and broadcast control equipment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the efforts of all technical operators during newscasts and live/recorded productions.
• Supervise and assign duties to technical control and production staff.
• Direct camera/video staff on composition while watching monitors.
• Serve as liaison between engineering and production teams.
• Collaborate with news producers to deliver a clean, energetic newscast.
• Train camera and CG operators for live broadcasts.
• Switch video sources in real time during live broadcasts.
• Test equipment to ensure proper operation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Coordinates the efforts of all technical operators during newscasts and other live and recorded productions
• Supervises and assigns duties to workers engaged in technical control and production of programs
• Observes pictures through monitors and directs camera/video staff concerning composition
• Acts as a liaison between engineering and production departments
• Works with the news producers to deliver a clean and high energy newscast
• Trains camera and CG operators on the proper operation during live broadcasts
• Switches video sources and given direction at the same time during live broadcasts
• Tests equipment to ensure proper operation
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills :

• High school diploma
• Fluency in English
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Minimum two years' experience in news operations and production. (Depending on market size)
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
• Proficiency with broadcast control equipment
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
