Job description

Director, Human Resources Business Partner

At Microsoft, our mission is simple but bold: empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. We believe in growth, curiosity, and bringing our best every day. That’s how we create innovations that touch billions of lives around the world.

We’re looking for a seasoned Director, Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) who wants to make an impact at a global scale. In this role, you’ll partner with Microsoft Security Engineering leaders and help shape their people strategies, culture, and leadership practices.

The Microsoft Security organization is integral to every product, service, and solution we develop, focusing on building and deploying cyber defense and proactive technologies for our customers and partners. Collaborating closely with other product engineering groups, this team ensures the safety, privacy, and security of the ecosystems we serve.

We want someone who enjoys solving big challenges, thrives in fast‑moving environments, and wants to be part of businesses that shape trust in technology. This position is based in Redmond, WA.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, assessing the effectiveness of business strategies, organizational models, and structures, and offering clear recommendations that drive results.
  • Use listening systems and employee signals to gain real insights into culture, then help shape initiatives that strengthen engagement and effectiveness.
  • Design and influence talent strategies—planning, movement, and development—in close partnership with leaders and the Talent Management team.
  • Be at the table for some of Microsoft’s most complex and long‑term initiatives, providing guidance and support that ensures both people and business outcomes are achieved.
  • Help leaders navigate change, building talent pipelines for the future, and using data and insights to guide smart people decisions.
  • Manage an HRBP who supports both groups alongside you. As a people manager you are expected to be a culture carrier and deliver success through empowerment and accountability by living our leadership values of Model, Coach, and Care.
  • Embody our culture and live our values.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field AND 6+ years experience in human resources or related processes (e.g., hiring, training, performance management); OR Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field AND 9+ years experience in experience in human resources or related processes (e.g., hiring, performance management); OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years people management experience.
  • 5+ years of experience partnering with a wide network of clients and across human resources to deliver effective business solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field AND 12+ years experience in human resources or related processes (e.g., hiring, training, performance management); OR Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field AND 15+ years experience in human resources or related processes (e.g., hiring, performance management); OR equivalent experience.
  • Human Resources Professional Certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM, CIPD).
