Job summary

Morningstar, Inc. seeks a Procurement Director for Corporate Services to drive enterprise-wide sourcing strategies and lead contract negotiations with key suppliers.

Reporting to the Head of Global Procurement, the role requires data-driven analytical excellence and proven stakeholder relationship-building across HR, Finance, and Legal. The candidate will own category strategy, manage negotiations end-to-end, and lead a high-performing team focused on innovation, efficiency, and risk mitigation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required; MBA or JD preferred.
  • 10+ years in strategic sourcing or corporate services leadership.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and global negotiations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder influencing skills.

Job description

The Procurement role of Corporate Services, Director will drive high-impact strategies enterprise-wide for stakeholders – delivering measurable enterprise value by leading strategic sourcing and contract negotiations with key suppliers. Reporting to the Head of Global Procurement, a successful candidate will have experience in best-practice procurement methods and business processes; deep data‑driven analytical skills; and demonstrated success at building consensus, navigating through ambiguity, and developing deep relationships across disparate stakeholder groups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own category strategy and contract negotiations across several categories of spend: Professional Services, Travel, Contingent Workforce, and Workplace Facilities and CapEx related projects.
  • Design data-driven sourcing strategies that effectively address stakeholder objectives while balancing cost, speed, quality, and innovation.
  • Lead supplier evaluations, negotiations, and contract management (end to end) ensuring best-in-class procurement practices.
  • Negotiate complex, global agreements focused on total value, negotiated savings (budgetary and avoidance), and market‑reasonable terms.
  • Use analytics and automation to enhance visibility and decision speed.
  • Prepare RFQs, RFPs, bid documents, analyze and evaluate proposals, and administer the evaluation process.
  • Serve as trusted commercial advisor to senior leaders across HR, Finance, and Legal.
  • Align sourcing strategies to enterprise goals for growth and margin.
  • Manage and develop organizational and team member capabilities, particularly in category management and strategic sourcing processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve process issues impacting internal stakeholders.
  • Define and implement process improvements that increase engagement, reduce cycle time and deliver efficiency gains, while ensuring compliance with policies and mitigating supplier risk.
  • Manage and optimize strategic supplier relationships to drive innovation and accountability.
  • Lead a high‑performing team recognized for innovation and commercial excellence.
  • Provide thought leadership from a procurement/sourcing perspective and work with business partners to develop new and creative strategies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required. MBA or JD preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive strategic sourcing or commercial leadership experience leading Corporate Services / Professional Services spend categories.; 8+ years of team leadership experience.
  • Strong negotiation experience (Master Agreements, Statements of Work, Change Orders, etc.) and demonstrated organizational and project management skills.
  • Success in large-scale enterprise initiatives and demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing at a global scale and within a fast paced, and dynamic organization is required.
  • Outstanding ability to collaborate with business partners and teams in defining and implementing category strategies at scale.
  • Solid leadership skills and demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, develop and retain outstanding strategic sourcing teams.
  • Strong financial acumen and complex negotiation experience.
  • Excellent executive communication and stakeholder influencing skills.
  • Other duties as necessary and assigned.

Total Cash Compensation Range

$161,050.00-246,933.33

Inclusive of annual base salary and target incentive
