Job summary

Oakland University seeks an experienced and collaborative leader to guide services that enhance the experience of international students and scholars. The Director will work with academic units, student affairs, faculty, and administrators to foster student success and intercultural engagement.

The Director oversees immigration compliance for F-1 and J-1 students, serves as PDSO and RO, and provides guidance on immigration, academic, personal, financial, and cultural matters.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in International Education or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in international student and scholar services, including leadership or supervisory experience.
• Extensive knowledge of federal regulations governing F-1 and J-1 students and scholars, including SEVIS compliance requirements.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively across cultures.

Responsibilities

• Lead ISSO operations, personnel, budget, and assessment.
• Develop programs and services that support compliance, student success, and cross-cultural learning.
• Collaborate with campus partners to promote intercultural engagement and integration of international students and scholars.
• Serve as the university's Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and Responsible Officer (RO) for immigration matters.
