Job summary

Amex GBT is seeking a Director, Cyber Defense to lead the teams that keep travelers, colleagues, and data safe: CSIRT, CTI, Detection Engineering, and DSI. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who has run security operations at scale and can build proactive detection and intelligence programs.

You’ll set the strategy for how we detect, investigate, and respond to security incidents and data handling concerns across a global business.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in cybersecurity.
• 5+ years leading incident response or security operations.
• Experience handling sensitive investigations with Legal/HR.
• Familiarity with threat intel and how to shape detection priorities.
• Experience with SIEM/EDR and ATT&CK-based content.

Responsibilities

• Lead CSIRT, CTI, Detection Engineering, and DSI as one cyber defense function.
• Set vision, roadmap, and budget for cyber defense capabilities.
• Hire, coach, and develop team leads and analysts.
• Define metrics: dwell time, mean time to detect/respond, closure rates.
