Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Global Commodity Management based in the United States. This senior leadership opportunity offers the chance to shape global sourcing strategy and strengthen supplier performance across the aerospace industry. You will lead a geographically dispersed team, oversee strategic supplier relationships, and drive measurable improvements in cost, quality, delivery, and supply continuity. Working across manufacturing, engineering, finance, quality, and commercial functions, you will align sourcing decisions with operational priorities and customer requirements. You will also guide complex negotiations, mitigate supply chain risks, and identify opportunities to improve productivity and working capital. The role combines strategic decision‑making with hands‑on commercial leadership in a highly regulated, globally connected environment. For an experienced aerospace procurement leader, this is an opportunity to influence global supply chain resilience and deliver lasting business impact.

Accountabilities
  • Lead the global commodity management function across direct materials, special processes, outsourced services, tooling, and strategic indirect purchasing categories.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop Regional Commodity Managers, establishing consistent global sourcing strategies, governance standards, performance expectations, and leadership capabilities.
  • Develop and implement global commodity strategies that balance customer demand, manufacturing capacity, supplier capabilities, cost, quality, delivery, and supply continuity.
  • Direct global sourcing activities, supplier selection, and complex commercial negotiations, including long-term agreements, nondisclosure agreements, and applicable customer, quality, regulatory, and export‑control requirements.
  • Drive measurable cost savings, productivity improvements, working‑capital optimisation, and commercial risk reduction through should‑cost models, clean‑sheet analysis, purchase‑price variance, inflation tracking, surcharges, and market‑index analysis.
  • Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships through executive business reviews, performance scorecards, corrective actions, recovery plans, and structured escalation processes.
  • Oversee supplier capacity, lead times, long‑lead materials, dual‑sourcing strategies, business‑continuity planning, geopolitical exposure, trade compliance, and other supply chain risks.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Finance, Commercial, and Program Management teams on requests for quotation and proposal, make‑or‑buy decisions, supplier qualifications, supplier transitions, and new‑product introductions.
  • Govern global demand and supply reviews, aligning forecasts, supplier commitments, expedited requirements, inventory exposure, and excess or obsolete materials.
  • Review and negotiate strategic contracts to minimise schedule, quality, warranty, liability, price‑escalation, and revenue‑related risks.
  • Standardise global sourcing processes, supplier data governance, and key performance indicator reporting through MRP/ERP systems, Coupa, Power BI, and other digital tools.
  • Represent Global Supply Chain in executive reviews, customer and supplier discussions, acquisition‑related sourcing integration, and cross‑functional transformation initiatives.
  • Support programs involving International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Small Business Liaison Officer (SBLO) responsibilities, as applicable.
  • Travel approximately 20–40% as required to support global operations, suppliers, and business priorities.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline, with equivalent relevant industry experience also considered.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in aerospace procurement, strategic sourcing, or commodity management.
  • A minimum of 5 years of people leadership experience, including managing geographically distributed teams, developing leaders, and establishing accountability through common performance metrics and operating routines.
  • Demonstrated global aerospace sourcing experience covering direct materials, special processes, outsourced services, and complex, multi‑tier supplier networks.
  • A proven track record of developing global commodity strategies, negotiating complex commercial agreements, and delivering measurable improvements in cost, cash flow, quality, delivery, and risk mitigation.
  • Advanced knowledge of aerospace supplier qualification and performance management, including AS9100, Nadcap, customer‑specific requirements, corrective actions, supplier risk management, and quality systems.
  • Working knowledge of global trade compliance, customs, Incoterms, sanctions, restricted‑party screening, export controls, duties and taxes, and responsible sourcing requirements.
  • Experience managing raw‑material market exposure and commercial terms, including market indices, inflation, surcharges, price protections, productivity commitments, rebates, and customer or supplier pass‑through provisions.
  • Strong cross‑functional leadership skills, with experience coordinating sourcing decisions across Engineering, Quality, Operations, Finance, Commercial, and program teams.
  • Excellent executive‑level negotiation, communication, stakeholder management, and decision‑making skills.
  • Advanced analytical capabilities and experience using MRP/ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and presentation tools to manage demand, supply, supplier commitments, and business cases.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including PivotTables and lookup functions, as well as strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work with controlled information and meet applicable U.S. export‑control requirements for relevant programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, CIPS, Six Sigma, Lean, ACE, or an equivalent credential.
  • Experience using Coupa for supplier onboarding, sourcing, contract lifecycle management, risk management, and supplier performance reporting.
  • Advanced Power BI skills for analysing and presenting supplier, spend, savings, risk, and performance metrics.
  • Experience leading global aerospace commodity strategies, supplier consolidation, supply chain resilience initiatives, and sourcing integration following acquisitions or major operational changes.
  • Familiarity with environmental, product‑compliance, and responsible‑sourcing standards, including REACH, RoHS, conflict minerals requirements, and related customer obligations.

  • Professional development: Tuition reimbursement to support continued learning and career growth.
  • Additional perks: Employee discounts and pet insurance.
