Job summary

University of Utah is seeking a Director of Gift Planning to lead the development management team within University Advancement. You will build relationships with donors, plan and secure gifts through bequests, charitable trusts, and retirement asset gifts across multiple units.

The role reports to the Senior Director of Gift Planning, collaborates with major gift staff, and travels for donor engagement. A strong background in gift planning and education leadership is required.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 12 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 10 years of directly related work experience.
• Experience in higher education or health care donor relations preferred.
• Expert knowledge of gift planning laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Actively manage a portfolio of planned gift prospects and donors through identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward.
• Build and maintain donor relationships through outreach, travel, meetings, and research to drive gift conversations and document them.
• Coordinate with Advancement Services to ensure donor records and plans are accurately coded and reported.
