Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine seeks a Director to lead the Mouse Core, overseeing breeding, cryopreservation, rederivation/IVF, and generation of new GEMMs. The role drives scientific and operational strategy, manages a multi-user facility, and ensures timely delivery of core services.

Responsibilities include collaboration with investigators, grant leadership, regulatory compliance, and training of students and staff. A Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in genetics, molecular biology, or related biomedical field.
• Deep expertise across GEMM technologies and transgenic mouse facilities.
• Proven ability to manage complex budgets, multi-user facilities, and compliance programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific and operational direction for the core, supervising daily technical functions and timelines.
• Consult with faculty on new projects, design genetic strategies, and report on ongoing work.
• Lead regulatory compliance, grant reporting, and financial oversight for the core.
