Xcimer Energy is seeking a Director of Fusion Nuclear Science to lead the scientific disciplines essential for realizing and industrializing practical fusion power systems. The role oversees long‑term roadmap, experimental programs, and collaboration with engineering to deliver credible models and design guidance.

The successful candidate will recruit and mentor world‑class teams, align priorities with corporate strategy, and drive reproducible research within an industrial environment.

Qualifications

• PhD required with a strong research record in nuclear or fusion science.
• 12+ years in analysis, simulation, R&D, or tech development for complex nuclear systems.
• 6+ years leading multidisciplinary scientific or R&D teams.
• Extensive experience with nuclear-analysis tools and multi-physics codes.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the Fusion Nuclear Science department, including hiring and mentoring staff.
• Define and own the scientific roadmap for fusion chamber dynamics and related domains.
• Develop strategy for tools, modeling, experiments, and validation infrastructure.
• Oversee analysis, modeling, code development, and experimental programs with rigorous QA.
• Translate insights and data into actionable design guidance for engineering teams.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and other science groups for alignment.
• Identify emerging opportunities and integrate advances from academia and labs.
• Manage external lab and vendor relationships for tools and facilities.
